今日はひな祭りです🎎
ひな祭り (Hinamatsuri) is a traditional Japanese festival celebrated on March 3rd, also known as “Girls’ Day” or “Doll Festival.” It is a special day to pray for the health, happiness, and prosperity of young girls.
Families with daughters display a set of ornamental dolls called hina-ningyō, which represent the Emperor, Empress, and their court dressed in Heian-period attire. These dolls are usually arranged on a tiered platform covered with red fabric. Special foods such as chirashizushi (scattered sushi), hishi-mochi (diamond-shaped rice cakes), and shirozake (sweet white sake) are enjoyed during the celebration.
The custom of displaying dolls is believed to originate from an ancient practice where people transferred misfortunes to paper dolls and set them afloat on rivers. Today, Hinamatsuri is a joyful occasion for families to celebrate their daughters’ growth and well-being.
