A day in the life of an ISI student in Tokyo 🗼

Ashley () is taking us through hers. 5:30 AM wake-ups, an early gym session, the commute across the city, and finally landing in her classroom at ISI Takadanobaba Career Pathway by 10 ⏰

It’s not always glamorous, but this is what building a real life in Japan looks like; balancing studies, fitness, and the daily rituals that keep you going 🧘

👇 What time do you wake up? Could you handle a 5:30 AM start?

If you’re curious about Ashley’s journey, watch her full video on ISI’s YouTube channel and follow her on her socials, where she shares parts of her daily life in Japan ✨

POV: you ask 4 ISI students about their future in Japan and get completely different answers 👀
That’s exactly what makes the WEWORLD Shinro EXPO special.

In this reel, students share:
🎓 their career paths and goals in Japan
📚 their favorite booths from the day
🗣️ what the collaborating universities had to say

Japan has more higher education options than most people realize — and the Shinro EXPO is where our students start mapping it all out. This year, 68 institutions came to ISI so our students could ask the real questions in person and make informed decisions about their future in Japan 🇯🇵

POV: your first job in Japan, and a few things feel new 😊

📚 In today’s Business Japanese class at ISI Shinjuku, Suzuki-sensei shared a small insight that can make settling into a Japanese workplace a little smoother. Depending on where you’ve worked before, the rhythm of a Japanese office might feel a bit different at first. Often, teams work closely together and a lot is shaped as a group.

💡 The reassuring part: You’re never expected to figure everything out alone. When you ask in a kind, respectful way, people are usually glad to help 🤝

A useful phrase to remember: 👉「手伝っていただけますか?」(Tetsudatte itadakemasen ka, Could you please help me?)

This is the kind of real-world Japanese you build confidence with in ISI’s Career Japanese course ✨

Life at Japanese language school hits different 🍵🍜

Back in April, ISI students rolled up their sleeves for a hands-on soba making experience 🍜 From mixing the flour to kneading, rolling, and cutting — every step made from scratch. Everyone took their own homemade noodles home to enjoy 🥢

In May, a small tea party at the 7th floor lounge at ISI Ikebukuro took place 🍵 Snacks, tea, good conversation... and a surprise visit from ISI graduates who shared their stories and answered questions. A small event, but a really special moment of connection between students past and present ✨

At ISI, events like these are part of student life, because learning Japanese is just one part of the experience 💙

POV: you moved to Japan to teach English, and 6 months in… you’re working late shifts, and your Japanese is exactly where it started 😮‍💨

That was Ashley ().

She wanted more — better career options, real Japanese skills, and a life outside of work where she could make Japanese friends. ISI helped make the transition smooth for her, and now she is part of ISI Takadanobaba Career Pathway Campus, jumpstarting her Japanese language journey 🌱

A lot of our students come to ISI with a similar background. Language teaching is a great way to land in Japan, but it doesn’t have to be the whole story. Learning Japanese will open more doors to working in Japan, and in the meantime, you can keep working part-time, making friends, and going at your own pace ✨

If you’re curious about Ashley’s journey, watch her full video on ISI’s YouTube channel and follow her on her socials, where she shares parts of her daily life in Japan 🇯🇵

Not your typical day at Japanese language school 👀

Today swapped the classroom for Shinjuku Gyoen… task sheets, spoon groupings, card games on the grass, and a Yoda won at the arcade afterwards 🥲

Courtney came from Australia in April and started Japanese from beginner level. Just a few months later, she’s making friends from all over the world, using Japanese as their common language, and getting to know the city she now calls home 🌸

By sharing her whole journey of moving to Japan and learning the language on socials — the good days, the hard days, the small wins, and everything in between — she hopes to inspire and encourage anyone chasing the same dream ✨

Who are you? Let’s learn how to say it in Japanese 👋🇯🇵

In this beginner class at ISI, Hori-sensei teaches one of the most useful lessons for newcomers in Japan, how to introduce yourself ✨

だれですか? なまえは_です。ぎんこういん、がくせい、せんせい… these simple words help you share who you are and start real conversations from day one.

At ISI, all lessons are taught in Japanese from the very first day, but don’t worry 😌 With gestures, visuals, and clear examples, everything naturally starts to make sense.

Step by step, you’ll be introducing yourself with confidence 💡
