Children were super excited to see shark, octopus, whale, jellyfish, fish, turtles and many more sea creatures that lurked in HAPI sea world. Shark had a mouth big enough for several children to fit in together and eyes and teeth too scary for smaller children to look at or go near it! Giant octopus spewed mesmerizing bubbles that children ran to catch! On the other hand, whale, affectionately called Ice Chan by Elephant class children was the one with whom children felt most comfortable- they would go near it and touch and pat its skin, tail, eyes and fins. Children mingled with these imaginary creatures while engaging in fun games like fishing, and bowling. What more? Children could even try a quick ride on a kayaking boat that could hold a whole class! It was an amazing day full of excitement of children and creative display of our teachers in designing a sea world model that could make our children and families happy.

Our first presentation event of 2024 academic year focused on India, the home country of many of our current and former students and teachers. Dolphins, our senior hosted a TV show about India conducting the program them-self and presenting various fun facts about India. They also
performed much loved dance on the Bollywood song “Dhhum Machha lo”. Parents representing India performed a traditional “Dandiya Dance” from Gujarat State of India and organized a drum and dance workshop for children and families. Other classes sang various songs from India such as Remama, remama” and “Machli Jalki Rani He”. It was a fun event bringing together the HAPI community- students, families and staffs in a quest to know and learn about India. We extend special thanks to Indian parents for making the event engaging and fun to the participating children and families.

It was a fun event bringing together the HAPI community- students, families and staffs in a quest to know and learn about India. Our camping event this year was full of fun activities: orienteering, yummy food, bonfire, firework, ophuro, pillow fighting and more. It is always great to see our graduates growing happily. We are getting more and more help from them in making food, bedmaking and taking care of juniors. For Dolphins, our current seniors, it was their first time away from the care of their family. Some of them were immensely nervous. The company of the energetic seniors helped the Dolphins enjoy the time.

We had the pleasure of introducing three countries- China, India and Nigeria to the residents of Taito City. HAPI families and a teacher introduced their respective countries while HAPI children performed an exciting show from China. We extend our gratitude to the presenters for introducing your respective countries and preparing and serving delicious snacks to the participants. We are grateful for the opportunity to promote international exchange and understanding among Taito Ku residents.

(This event is organized annually as a collaboration between Taito City Office and Harmony Preschool Internationally)

Thanks to the initiation of HAPI parents and volunteers, HAPI children had a chance to try Kimono, the Japanese traditional dress. They visited shrine in the neighbourhood for New Year prayers and played freely in the park wearing kimono as an everyday clothe. Their playing while wearing the kimono recreated the Japanese past when kimono was used as a everyday clothe by Japanese children.
The volunteers organized a special HARP performance for the children. It was a culturally enriching day for all our children.

HAPI children are back at school with renewed enthusiasm in the new year.
Children utilized the art and craft time of the first school day of the year to write message of support to the victims of the devastating earthquake that hit central Japan on the New Year day. We hope their message and drawings will fill peoples heart with warmth and happiness. We also sent some materials as a support for needy people.

Santa visited HAPI children with festive greetings and presents. Children performed special songs and presented about their school activities. They joined families to decorate cakes and enjoy special Christmas lunch and cake.

Dolphins, our seniors visited Earth Plaza at Yokohama to observe the rich combination of heritages from different countries and regions. They visited model shops and homes with curiosity. They played musical instruments and children’s games enthusiastically. They also rode on Thai Tuk Tuk and South Asian Rickshaw. Moreover, they tried costumes from different countries.
It was a wonderful opportunity for our children to experience different countries tangibly and to expand their international interest and understanding.
