Sendai Ikuei Gakuen Sendai Ikuei Gakuen, comprised of Sendai Ikuei Gakuen High School and Shukoh Junior High School, was originally founded on October 1st, 1905 by Mr.

Rikichi Katoh as a private school named Ei Iku-kai, later established as Ikuei Juku. Guided by our founding principles of "Sincerity", "Confidence" and "Responsibility and Determination", we have built a century-long legacy that has educated over 70,000 graduates.

IB Camp Day 3

On the morning of our last day of IB Camp, each group gave presentations on their selected global issues and their proposed solutions/ strategies for combatting each issue. Hard work throughout the camp paid off as each group delivered unique and powerful presentations. The final product showed how each student was able to incorporate the ATL skills into their learning. After leaving Kibotcha, we stopped in at Matsushima for lunch. Then it was back to school, and the end of another memorable IB Camp. Great work everyone!!!

IBキャンプ最終日の朝、各グループは、自分たちが選んだグローバルな課題と、その解決策・戦略についてプレゼンテーションを行いました。合宿期間中の努力が実り、各グループのプレゼンテーションはユニークで力強いものでした。最終的な成果物により、各生徒がATLスキルをいかに学習に取り入れることができたかを示すことになりました。キボッチャを出発後、松島に寄って昼食を取りました。その後、学校に到着し、思い出に残るIBキャンプが終了しました。みんなよく頑張りました。

IB Camp Day 2 - The night

Night 2 is always a highlight of the IB Camp. The evening started off with a BBQ. This was our first time at Kibotcha and it was one of the best BBQs we have ever had at IB Camp. The Kibotcha
staff laid out a delicious BBQ and the atmosphere of the beach area was fantastic. Smores for dessert made the perfect closing to a great dinner.

After the BBQ it was back to the meeting room for the other highlight of the evening- The Werewolf Game. Suspicion stalked the room as students pondered who were the werewolves wreaking havoc in the village.

IBキャンプのハイライトはいつも2日目の夜です。夕方からBBQを始めました。 Kibotcha（キボッチャ）は初めてでしたが、IBキャンプの中でも最高のBBQとなりました。スタッフの方がおいしいBBQを用意してくれて、ビーチエリアの雰囲気も最高でした。デザートのスモア（焼いたマシュマロをチョコレートと一緒にビスケットではさんだもの）はこちらで準備し、最高のディナーを締めくくりました。
BBQの後はミーティングルームに戻り、もうひとつのハイライトである人狼ゲームを行いました。村に大暴れしている人狼は誰なのか、生徒たちは疑心暗鬼になっていました。

IB Camp Day 2

We started off Day 2 with a guided walk around Higashi Matsushima. The staff at Kibotcha explained various features of the area, discussed how Higashi Matsushima was impacted by the Great Eastern Earthquake and Tsunami of 2011; and highlighted the efforts being made to support the area.

After lunch we had another student-led activity, a balloon race that required coordinated movement and got everyone in the mood for groupwork. Following that we got back into the research project- preparing presentations for Day 3.

2日目は、東松島のガイド付き散策から始まりました。Kibochaのスタッフが東松島の様々な特徴を説明し、2011年の東日本大震災で東松島がどのような影響を受けたか、また東松島を支援するためにどのような取り組みが行われているかを紹介してくれました。

昼食後は、生徒主導のアクティビティ: 風船レースを行ない、グループワークの気分を盛り上げた。その後、研究プロジェクトに戻り、3日目のプレゼンテーションの準備に取り掛かった。

This year, we added an extra component to the IB Camp- Some student-led team building activities. Each group came up with an activity to use throughout the camp. Today's activity was a treasure hunt/jigsaw activity.
After an afternoon of research and project work on selected global issues, we finished up Day 1 with a delicious meal followed by some sports in the local gym. Students and teachers played basketball, volleyball, badminton and indiaca.
今年は、IBキャンプに生徒主導のチームビルディング・ アクティビティを加えました。各グループにキャンプを通して使用するアクティビティを計画してもらいました。今日のアクティビティは宝探し／ジグソーパズルでした。
午後は世界的な問題についてのリサーチとプロジェクトワークの後、おいしい食事で1日目を締めくくり、地元の体育館でスポーツを楽しみました。生徒と教師は、バスケットボール、バレーボール、バドミントン、インディアカを楽しんだ。

Yesterday was the start of our DP1 IB Camp. The focus of the 3-day camp is developing our problem solving and critical thinking skills, building connections with each other and with the global community, and forging a team spirit that will get us through the IBDP.
Day 1 started with some team building activities, and then we moved on to the project focus of our camp- design thinking and coming up with solutions to global issues.

昨日からDP1のIBキャンプが始まりました。３日間のキャンプの焦点は、問題解決力と批判的思考力を養い、お互いに、そして国際社会とのつながりを築き、IBDPを乗り切るための団結を強化することです。

Cohort 9 (2GIB) ToK Exhibition.
Last week, 2GIB conducted their TOK Exhibitions. Students displayed and presented on different high-knowledge prompts, connecting their selected prompts to real life situations (images) and critically expressing how it can influence how they, the knower, acquire and engage with new knowledge.
At this year’s exhibition, teachers and Cohort 10 DP students joined in- listened to the presentations, asking questions and engaging the students in their quest for greater knowledge building and understanding.

2GIB biology students are currently exploring the relationship between organisms and their ecosystems in the Ecology unit. As part of their inquiry, each student has set up a glass-sealed terrarium to examine whether an isolated ecosystem can be sustainable in the long term. Students will also measure the presence and absence of species in order to examine the relationships between organisms.

This week, the DP English A class was exploring how various techniques are used in photography to create, impact, and accentuate meaning within a text. After a discussion of the various techniques, with cameras in hand, students went out to put what they had learned to practical use.

CAS Week Day 5
On Day 5 we brought it all together. We started with discussions on how to connect yesterday's ideas across more than 1 CAS strand. Then we moved on to talking about creating a more meaningful CAS programme by starting with your interests, passions, and values - the 'why' not the 'what'　( Senek's The Golden Circle)
For Lunch, we had a pizza party to celebrate all the hard work students had done this week.
Then in the afternoon, each student presented some ideas about what experiences/projects they would like to include in their CAS programme.

5日目、すべてをまとました。まず、昨日のアイデアを複数のCAS要素にどのようにつなげるかについてディスカッションしました。そして、自分の興味、情熱、価値観、つまり「何を」ではなく「なぜ」から始めることで、より有意義なCASプログラムを作るという話に移った（ Senek's Golden Circle）。
お昼は１週間の努力を振りう帰りながら、お疲れさん会のピザパーティでした。

CAS Week Day 4
We started Day 4 with each team planning a CAS project based on collaboration with one of yesterday's organisations. Each group produced project ideas with the potential for individual growth, development of skills, and mutual benefit.
In the afternoon, groups worked to brainstorm what kind of experiences could be included in each strand of CAS- Creativity, Activity, and Service.
4日目は、各チームが昨日のいずれかの団体とのコラボレーションに基づくCASプロジェクトを計画することからスタートしました。各グループは、個人の成長、スキルの向上、相互の利点となる可能性のあるプロジェクトのアイデアを出しました。

CAS Week Day 3
On Day 3 we discovered some of the service opportunities available in Sendai. Mr Ogura (@ NPO Foodbank Sendai) shared what Foodbank Sendai does, Mr Niita shared how Sendai Yomawari group supports homeless people in Sendai, Ms Shishido shared her experiences in helping orphaned dogs and cats, and the university student interns from carav@n talked about their community-based activities; and then workshopped problem solving processes with our IB students.
The students were surprised and inspired by the service opportunities available nearby, and by the passion shown by those engaged in service.
3日目には仙台での奉仕の機会についてのプレゼンをしていただきました。小椋さんはフードバンク仙台がどのような活動を行っているについて、仙台夜まわりグループの新田美さんは仙台にてホームレス支援について、宍戸さんは保護犬活動に経験について、そしてcarav@nの大学生インターン生は自分たちの街作り・企業サポートの活動について話し、そしてIBの生徒たちたちと問題解決プロセスのワークショップを行いました。
生徒たちは、身近に奉仕活動の機会があること、そして奉仕活動に従事する人々の情熱に驚き、そして刺激を受けました。
