On May 26th, GSAPS welcomed visiting undergraduate students from the University of British Columbia for an information session by Professor Kikuchi Tomoo and lunch with our student volunteers.
Thank you to our visitors for spending the day with us, and to Nana, Michal, and Bryce for volunteering. Special thanks to GSAPS staff, and fellow organizers for making this visit possible.

Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies will hold an Open School event!
📅 Date and Time: June 27, 2026 (Sat) 1PM–5PM(JST)
📍 Place: Waseda Campus Building 19, Waseda University (In person)
🗣️ Language: English and Japanese
🔗 Registration: Please apply from the GSAPS website
⏰ Registration deadline: June 25, 2026, 4:00PM (JST)
Event Details:
1️⃣ GSAPS Overview and Introduction [1:00PM–2:30PM]
A professor will provide an overview and introduce the faculty. Current master’s and doctoral students will present about student life and their research!
2️⃣ Individual Consultations with Faculty/Current Students [2:30PM–5:00PM]
Direct consultations with faculty and current students about GSAPS or graduate school admissions.
3️⃣ GSAPS Tour by Current Students [1st tour at 2:40PM, 2nd tour at 2:50PM, duration: approx. 20 minutes]
Special tour conducted by current GSAPS students, including spaces usually accessible only to GSAPS students.

5月といえば課題、課題といえばレポート、レポート期間がやってきました。
学部生も院生も、みんな張り切る時期です。
この度は修士最後の学期を送る私の経験をもとに、レポートが少し効率的になる方法を紹介します。
とくに私のお勧めは1番と5番かな。
これからの大学生活、きっといいことがあるはずです。

Starting the GSAPS journey at Waseda University with the official opening ceremony 🌸
One thing I found really interesting about Japanese university culture is the tradition of holding an opening ceremony at the beginning of the academic year. Many students attend in formal suits, and the atmosphere feels both ceremonial and exciting.
For international students, this may be a unique experience, especially when everyone sings the Waseda school song together. It made me feel that I was not only starting a new semester, but also becoming part of Waseda!🌟
I’m looking forward to the life at GSAPS, graduate school, and studying in Japan!
