G7/8 trip to Shimoda - Day 4, our last day.

After pancakes by the pool, we headed to Ohama Beach for one final dose of waves, sunshine and fun. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to finish the trip!

Thank you, Shimoda - we had an amazing time! 🌊

Shimoda Trip - Days 2 & 3.

Yesterday we explored the coastline on a hike to Toji Beach, discovered the incredible Ryugu Cave, and had some fun in the sand dunes before a well-earned lunch in Kisami. We finished the day in the sea at Ohama Beach.

Today was all about the water - kayaking around Sotoura and Kujippama, followed by an afternoon of swimming and riding the waves at Iritahama.

And the weather couldn’t have been better. Who knew the typhoon would actually do us a favour and blow all the rain clouds away?

Two pretty perfect days in Shimoda!

G7/8 Team-Building Trip to Shimoda — Day 1!

After postponing this trip many times, we decided to embrace the rainy weather and head straight into the typhoon! Nothing can stop us from having fun!

Students were divided into teams and challenged to create a budget, plan a dinner menu, shop for ingredients, and prepare their meal.

First up: Taco Rice! While the other teams enjoy the pool, this group is hard at work in the kitchen. We’re looking forward to a delicious dinner and a fun movie night!

What a way to finish Summer School 2026!

Our final week was all about Environment & Sustainability, and our students truly became planet protectors!

This week they...
Explored the Tokyo Water Science Museum
Investigated local ponds and discovered the wonders of nature
Learned about bees, pollination, soil, silt, and ecosystems
Turned recycled materials into towers, boats, reusable bags, planters, artwork, and more
Took on exciting STEM challenges, experiments, scavenger hunts, and engineering tasks
Created skits, wrote stories, played games, and solved problems together

From cleaning up a "polluted" classroom pond to building incredible creations from recycled materials, every day was packed with curiosity, creativity, teamwork, and fun!

The smiles, laughter, and enthusiasm were contagious, and it was amazing to watch our students think critically about how they can care for our planet—one small action at a time.

A huge thank you to our incredible Summer School teachers for creating such meaningful, hands-on experiences, and to our amazing students and families for making this summer one to remember. Have a wonderful rest of your summer—we can't wait to see you again!

UST Summer School Week 5 was all about Gardening & Nature, and what a week it was!

From planting seeds and exploring the fascinating world of flowers, insects, and pollination to becoming nature detectives, our students discovered just how amazing the natural world can be. Younger learners planted daikon, created beautiful garden-inspired artwork, and enjoyed delicious "dirt cups," while our older students explored plant adaptations, wrote poetry and stories, hosted a Mini Science Fair, and even designed their own imaginary plants and garden superheroes.
A highlight for everyone was our visit to the Yumenoshima Tropical Greenhouse Dome, where students explored incredible tropical plants, including fascinating carnivorous species, and completed their own nature investigations.
We wrapped up another unforgettable week with laughter, new friendships, and, of course, an epic water fight. Summer School just keeps getting better!

Another fun-filled week at UST Summer School!
During the History & Culture week, our Kindergarten students traveled back in time to explore dinosaurs and Ancient Egypt, learning about prehistoric times and pharaohs, pyramids, mummies, and hieroglyphics, while creating treasure maps, comic strips, scarab beetles, and mummy artwork.
Our Early Elementary students became world travelers, discovering how different cultures, foods, festivals, clothing, and homes are shaped by the environment. They created passports, designed colorful flags, and proudly presented their chosen countries to their classmates.
Our Upper Elementary students also explored cultures from around the world while diving deeper into the fascinating history of Ancient Egypt, learning about the Nile River, pyramids, and hieroglyphics.
To top it all off, everyone enjoyed an exciting field trip to the National Museum of Nature and Science, gym and music games, made new friends, and finished the week with an epic water fight that left us all completely soaked!

UST Summer School Week 3: Science & Discovery!

This week, our UST Summer School students rolled up their sleeves, got curious, got creative - and got a little messy!
Our younger scientists explored the world through their five senses, discovering different textures, smells, sounds, and tastes, while heading outdoors to observe nature and learn all about bugs. They mixed up gooey gloop and oobleck, made volcanoes erupt, and created towers of colorful bubbles!
Our older scientists put their curiosity to work with field journaling and live observations, then turned into engineers as they experimented with marbles, ramps, and machines that store and release energy. They asked questions, made predictions, tested their ideas, and discovered that sometimes the best science comes from trying, tweaking, and trying again!
A trip to the Science Museum added even more excitement, with interactive exhibits and plenty of opportunities to see science in action.
From bubbling experiments and creepy crawlies to engineering challenges and exciting discoveries, Week 3 was packed with hands-on fun, teamwork, and lots of curious minds!

Summer School Week 2: Space & Discovery!
This week, our young space explorers blasted off on an exciting journey through the universe! Students learned about the solar system, stars, planets, and famous space pioneers while building their creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills through hands-on challenges, space-themed games, creative writing, art, and engineering activities.
To bring their learning to life, our younger students explored the wonders of Tamarokuto Science Center, while our older students put their scientific thinking to the test at Hamagin Space Center. From designing their own planets to discovering what it takes to explore space, it was a week filled with curiosity, imagination, and unforgettable adventures.
We can't wait to see what next week's theme has in store!

UST Summer School – Week 1: Health & Fitness!
What an amazing start to Summer School!
This week, our students explored what it means to live a healthy, active lifestyle through hands-on learning, creative projects, and plenty of movement.
Our younger learners discovered how their incredible bodies work, learned about healthy food choices, practiced mindfulness, and stayed active with lots of games in the gym and outdoor play. They wrapped up the week with an exciting adventure at Hug Hug, the indoor playground, where they climbed, explored, and played to their hearts' content.
Our older students investigated how the human body keeps us moving, challenged themselves with fitness activities, and explored how sports can be adapted so that everyone can participate and feel included. Their week ended with an action-packed visit to Spo-Cha in Odaiba, the indoor sports center, where they put their teamwork and active spirits into practice.
It was a week full of curiosity, laughter, friendship, and movement—the perfect way to kick off an unforgettable summer!
