Discover Polynesia🌊🌺
This year’s summer program was themed around Polynesia, and we enjoyed a variety of activities. For example, we all learned how to dance to Polynesian music. We painted shells to decorate our home. And the babies looked super cute wearing their colorful Hawaiian lei!

🌍 Let’s learn how to reduce trash and help save our planet! ♻️
Our Kinder class explored how much waste we produce each day and discovered simple ways we can reduce it in our daily lives.
To put their learning into action, they created their very own coasters — which also double as cup covers to keep dust out! 💡🌱

This month we’ve been learning all about Polynesia and their language and customs. Aloha is a significant term that has many meaning. But it’s also used for: hello and goodbye! Galaxy class practiced saying Aloha to their friends and teachers. It was so fun!!

For the month of June, PALIS students have learned all about bugs! One of our students’ parents was so kind to gift us with two silkworms so students could have a hands-on experience raising insects. At first, some students were afraid to touch or hold the silk worm, but they were fascinated as they learned the life cycle of the silk worms. As students saw the silk worms were harmless, some of them worked up the courage to hold it in their hands. Students enjoyed feeding the silk worms mulberry leaves, and excitedly watched as one silk worm spun a silk cocoon. While going outside, students enjoyed searching for and catching bugs; including worms and roly polys.

Sky Class is enjoying yoga. Recently, they have started using yoga mats and are having fun doing animal poses on their own mats. They also love playing peek-a-boo and lying down for naps with scarves!!

Once a week renowned pianist Showko sensei teaches everyone about famous musicians throughout history and the music they composed. We also play different instruments such as bells, castanets, and tambourines. Join us as we create music from our hearts to your ears 🎹

Despite the pouring rain, that doesn’t stop Kinder class by having an indoor picnic to show off their cute bento to their friends and teachers! From Thomas to Kuromi, we filled our empty bellies with cute, delicious food that our mom and dad poured their hearts into making!

In Galaxy Class art, we explored the fascinating world of camouflage by creating our own hidden insects🪲🦋. We began by learning how real insects use camouflage to blend into their surroundings and stay safe. Next, we crafted colorful collages of plants and flowers to create natural-looking backgrounds. Then, we designed insects and decorated them with similar patterns and textures from the plants, so they could hide in plain sight. When we placed our insects onto the collages, it was exciting to see how well they blended in—some were so well camouflaged, they almost disappeared!

Star students practice their counting and numeral skills with a fish-themed worksheet🐟🐟🐟. With support from teachers, students count each fish and circle the matching number. Star students are learning how to hold a pencil correctly and circle the numbers neatly✏️🌀.

To celebrate Children’s Day, The kids in Sky class made Koi nobori🎏. They chose their favorite colors and patterns of origami paper to make the scales. Then, decorated them using crayons in colors they like and adding eyes. It was really fun to make, and when we see it hanging up, makes us feel cheerful and strong.
