Every ten years or so, a time comes when even solo devs, indie folks, or kiddos can make their mark. It's like the birth of a tech revolution - think 8-bit microcontrollers, the Internet, or smartphones. At first, these things can't do much, but that's why even a simple creation can turn heads. Right now, that's the deal with AI.
But the good times don't last. Soon enough, the tech gets all commercialized, and the big players start to dominate. Gaming goes from being about ASCII characters running around to needing Hollywood-sized budgets. It becomes tough for new folks to get in, and consultants start to push buzzwords like "Lean Startup". That's when you know the tech revolution honeymoon is over.
A lot of hackers started coding on their own from a young age, using books or the web. But most of the time, hackers weren't the cool kids; they were in the shadows. So when they heard that being an engineer had become a cool job, they probably thought it was a joke.
But even as times change, what a hacker is at heart doesn't. They just want to make something cool or useful, to wow people, make them happy. The time they get to pour their hearts into their creations is surprisingly short. Most programmers spend their time writing code to specs someone else set, earning their keep, and just getting on with life.
AI right now feels like a playground for the big guys, but don't let that noise fool you into thinking you can't play too. There's a ton of APIs out there you can use to build something neat. That's what really counts. And guess what? Most of those paid APIs aren't as expensive as you'd think - they're more like pocket change.
So, what you gotta do now is just start coding. You don't have to explain to anyone what you're trying to make. In this wild west of uncertainty, the best strategy is to "think while you're making". By the time you can see the end, you'll have a pile of code that's ready to say "too late to catch up now!" Focus on growing a product, not just a demo.
Honestly, while I was writing this, I was thinking about younger me. The one who kept chickening out when opportunity knocked, or who always seemed to pick the twisty paths. It took me way too long to learn to be straight-up with myself.
And hey, this is a shout-out to all you teens out there. Adults always seem to come up with practical (and kinda boring) uses for AI. But remember those famous hackers who were just kids making games and sending them into magazines? Some folks didn't even get the point of practical apps back then - and that's cool. I reckon that over the next year, young developers like you have more potential than ever.

Bill Gates Shares Lengthy Letter about AI.
・Bill Gates published a 7-page letter on the future of artificial intelligence.
・Gates focused on three sectors AI could transform: the workforce, healthcare, and education.
・The letter adds to the conversation and debate around AI chatbots, which have become popular.
Bill Gates has been thinking a lot about artificial intelligence, and now he's put those thoughts to paper.
The Microsoft cofounder published a seven-page letter on Tuesday — "The Age of AI has Begun" — outlining his views on the future of AI. He wrote that developing AI is "as fundamental as the creation of the microprocessor, the personal computer, the internet, and the mobile phone."
The letter arrived the same day Google released its AI chatbot, Bard, which joins Microsoft's Bing in the AI arms race, and a week after OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, announced the much-anticipated evolution of its AI model, GPT-4.
The Age of AI has begun
Bill Gates explains why AI is as revolutionary as personal computers, mobile phones, and the Internet, and he gives three principles for how to think about it.

Peter Norvig, who is one of Google's top hackers and the co-author of the most widely used textbook on AI, has written an excellent essay called Teach Yourself Programming in Ten Years. His "recipe for programming success" is worth careful attention.
Teach Yourself Programming in Ten Years
The conclusion is that either people are in a big rush to learn about programming, or that programming is somehow fabulously easier to learn than anything else. Felleisen et al. give a nod to this trend in their book How to Design Programs, when they say "Bad programming is easy. Idiots can learn it...

If you’re unsure of the standards you should be aiming for or how much you should be studying, how about doing the following?
If I was a client, if I needed to place an order 100 times, I would offer myself to do it all 100 times.
There’s no arguing with that. that’s my average.

Let’s raise our own level and make Myanmar as strong as the rest of the world.
