Seisen International School

Seisen International School A K-12 IB Continuum International Catholic school in Tokyo educating students under the motto "Learning to love, Loving to Learn" since 1962.

The Seisen Story in International Education is a story grounded in an educational philosophy of love and service as nurtured by the Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the teachings of their Foundress St Raphaela Mary. As a Catholic International School we maintain our tradition of welcoming students and faculty members of all faiths and nationalities, as we continue to address with our stu

dents the challenges of the world that lies beyond Seisen. Our story spans over 50 years of educating young women in our High School and Middle School, young girls in our Elementary School, and young boys and girls in our Kindergarten. We offer internationally recognized curriculum frame works, the Montessori Inquiry Program in the Kindergarten, the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program in the Elementary School and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program offered in the High School. In the delivery of these frameworks we base our methodology on best practices of 21st Century teaching and learning skills and the integration of technology in the classroom. We have a broad range of extracurricular sports and fine arts opportunities and our young women have garnered a reputation of being talented, focused, and highly successful in these various pursuits on the local and international competitive levels.

One question. Countless meanings. "What does Seisen mean to you?”
This time, our talented student-led Seisen Media Team presents a lighthearted reel that truly captivates Seisen, a place that is more than a school — a community, a home, a feeling. Watch to find out what Seisen means to our students and faculty.

Our very creative student-led Seisen Media team set out to uncover exactly how many years our beloved faculty members have been part of the Seisen community. The answers ranged from fresh-faced year-ones to legendary double-digit veterans (and our student editors couldn't resist adding some "timely" reactions to match!). 🦕👀

Jokes aside, one thing is certain: we are incredibly blessed to have such dedicated teachers who make Seisen their home for years, and even decades.

Huge shoutout to our student creators for the hilarious edits and to our wonderful staff for being such good sports! 🎬💙

St. Raphaela Day—a school-wide day dedicated entirely to learning and service. Watch as our seniors mentor our junior students and all four of our Houses (Chokai 🔵, Asama 🔴, Ontake 🟡, and Iwaki 🟢) come together as one. From teaching about safety, sharing some pet health awareness with our Kindergarteners to joining a walkathon and donating to those in need, we embodied the spirit of helping others. Thank you to all our students, faculty, and staff who joined and made this day, a wonderful reminder of such a central part of our heritage, carrying on the very spirit of love and giving that Saint Raphaela Mary championed.

Earlier this month, our ES Sports Day brought all our Elementary students together, representing their Houses over three afternoons of incredible teamwork and friendly competition!

As our Elementary PE teacher, Mr. Smith, beautifully put it: "I hope they realize they are part of a community, and they are valuable to it, too."

Learning together, supporting one another, and contributing to their Houses as a unified team made this year's ES Sports Day an unforgettable experience for everyone. Check out the highlights of our young athletes in action! ✨🏆✨

Today we honor the legacy of Saint Raphaela Mary, foundress of the Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

For the Seisen community, St. Raphaela Day is a living tribute to her dedication to service and love. Every year, our students, faculty, and staff join together in acts of service—learning from one another and reaching out to those in need. It is a day defined by heartfelt generosity and a genuine desire to give back, carrying forward the values St. Raphaela championed throughout her life.

Recently, Mr. Jimenez took the Grade 11 art class on an exciting field trip to the Mori Museum and the National Art Center, Tokyo.

From the solo exhibition from the hyper-realist sculptor Ron Mueck at the Mori where students were amazed by his large or small scale human figures to the Young British Artists museum at the NACT which explored many artists rising to fame in the 90s throughout the U.K., it was a busy day with lots of exposure to interesting art and perspectives that will certainly inspire their future works!

The incredible energy in every activity was felt by everyone as our Elementary Sports Day turned into a three-day celebration of sportsmanship and determination last week! From the first sprint to the sack races, all the way to the final relay race, we cheered for each other and celebrated the wins!

House spirit was in full force on the field as Ontake, Iwaki, Chokai, and Asama gave their all. A huge thank you to all the faculty and staff who made these three days of movement and fun possible and for all the parents who cheered our students on!
