BST Year 9 students headed to Mount Takao for a hands-on fieldwork experience!

Working in groups alongside the hike, students investigated the management of tourism in the area, applying their Geography learning in a real-world context. Duke of Edinburgh Award students also had a great opportunity to put their skills into practice, from teamwork to problem-solving.

A fantastic day combining academic enquiry with practical skills in an outdoor setting - with the good weather an added bonus!

The power of the BST community in action!

A huge well done to members of the BST parent community who took part in the Knights in White Lycra 500km charity cycle across Kansai 🚴‍♂️

With seven BST dads, two BST trustees, and additional support from staff and parents, the school was incredibly well represented in this inspiring effort. Together, they tackled demanding climbs and long distances, all in support of the children’s charity Mirai no Mori.

An amazing example of the strength, generosity and impact of the BST community, coming together to support a truly important cause.

👑 Huge congratulations to our Year 4, 5, and 6 students who successfully completed the Junior Duke Award Scheme!

To celebrate finishing all challenges, students attended a special ceremony where they were presented with badges and certificates by Principal Mr Clayton and Acting Head of Primary Mr James. ✨

The encourages students to step outside their comfort zones. Whether they were mastering practical life skills, building confidence, or discovering new talents, the true focus was on their willingness to try, learn, and grow. Because many of these challenges are completed independently at home, this journey also fostered incredible initiative, resilience, and wonderful family engagement.

Congratulations to all our Junior Dukes for showing such determination, curiosity, and a positive attitude. 👏

It's concert day for BST Primary!

Our Primary Summer Concert brought together music, movement and movie magic across three memorable performances. Students from BST's music clubs, ensembles and dance groups took to the stage with confidence, showcasing their talents through a programme inspired by the world of film.

From much-loved movie themes to energetic dance performances, the concerts highlighted the creativity, dedication and enthusiasm of our young performers. It was wonderful to welcome parents and families to celebrate their achievements and share in the joy of live performance.

The final swim meet of the school year took BST swimmers to Rugby School Japan rounding off a fantastic season 🏊‍♂️

Representing BST, 24 swimmers showcased the dedication, determination and team spirit that have defined the programme throughout the year. Whilst a small squad on the day, they proudly represented a much wider swimming community of over 170 students across Primary and Secondary.

Together, BST swimmers have achieved countless personal bests, taken on new challenges and celebrated impressive successes - with plenty to build on for the year ahead.

Experiencing a world-class performance firsthand, BST IGCSE Drama, IB Theatre and IB French students attended 'The Camel' by renowned actor Jean Reno at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre. Students observed the production from both creative and linguistic perspectives whilst analysing theatrical choices and developing their French through an authentic cultural experience.

Mr Reno kindly invited BST students and teachers onto the stage after the performance, offering a memorable opportunity to meet him in person and celebrate the experience together, with smiles all round.

Following the display of their photograph at this year’s BST A-Level Fine Art Exhibition at Temple University Japan Art Gallery, winners and runners-up of the 2026 BST Sakura Photography Competition received their A3 printed wall decor prizes.

From Primary through to Secondary, it’s incredible to see the eye for composition, creativity and storytelling BST students bring to their photography. A true showcase of budding photographers across the school.

The BST Sakura Photography Competition runs annually alongside the blossom season - we look forward to seeing next year’s entries!

BST Primary marked World Environment Day by joining the global movement to raise awareness of environmental protection and sustainability 🌍

Students and staff took part in a non-uniform day, wearing ‘earth colours’ while raising funds for the Churamura Okinawa Sea Turtle Conservation Project.

Led by our E-Cool Ambassadors, the day also featured tannoy announcements sharing important facts and messages about sustainability with peers, alongside a sea turtle-themed junk modelling competition! Check out some of our student entries so far!

The BST community is making its final fundraising push towards the end of the school year in support of building BST’s third United World Schools (UWS) partner school in Nepal!

The BSTxUWS Silent Auction proved to be an incredible success, culminating at the PTA Summer Rooftop Drinks Evening after a week of online bidding.

Together, the BST community raised over ¥1.4 million, making a significant contribution towards this project. With momentum building, we now look ahead to reaching our overall goal of ¥6.6 million by the end of this term.

A huge thank you to all the businesses and organisations who generously donated prizes and experiences, with special thanks to Bvlgari Hotel Tokyo, Aman Tokyo and Park Hyatt Niseko.
