I stopped by Motomachi after my errand in Kobe, and walked to the Chinatown.
It seemed people were gradually returning in Nankin-machi too.

There were always many people waiting for seats at "Roshoki" famous for "Butaman"=steamed bun with minced pork filling=, but the shop was closed that day, maybe because of either Covid-19, or in the Obon holiday, or it was a regular day-off. They were selling takeaway Butaman only at a sister shop across the street.

I thought it was a chance to get the famous Butaman without waiting long! 
I ordered 3 pieces for myself to eat at the spot(3 pieces at minimum for takeaway), also bought 10 pieces for home. It was meaty and slightly strong taste, but just yummy! so I ate the 3 of them in no time!

Before Covid-19 epidemic, the Chinatown was crowded with both domestic and foreign tourists. Great for one day trip from Osaka, 30 mins by train! I hope you will come again to walk and eat around! 


神戸で用事があった日に、元町に立ち寄り中華街迄歩きました。南京町にも少しずつお客さんが戻って来ているようでしたねー。

いつ来ても大行列だった老詳記さん、コロナの影響か、お盆休み中だからか、定休日だからなのか？お店は閉まっていて、お向かいにある姉妹店でのテイクアウト販売のみになっていました。

その日行列はいつもより少な目だったのでこれはチャンス！と思い、その場で食べたい分3個入(最低3個からなので)と、家に持ち帰る用の10個とを別々に包んでもらいました。

肉肉しく少々濃いめの味ですが、小ぶりの豚まんはジューシーでいつもと変わらない味。美味しかったです！

コロナ以前は海外からも国内からも観光客でにぎわっていた南京町中華街。大阪から電車で約30分！皆さんにも是非また来て食べ歩きを楽しんでほしいですねー。

Due to an urgent business need, and I flew back and forth between Osaka and Tokyo.

There seemed to be mostly businessmen on the weekday flight and there were more empty seats than I predicted. It seems that some domestic flights were canceled due to Covid, and inflight service was also limited.

Fortunately enough, my seat was on Mt.Fuji side and I could see Mt Fuji in the clouds from the window of the plane.

I just expected there would be snow covered on the top of Mt. Fuji, but soon realized there was no snow now in summer!

I think that many people want to go up to the summit of Mt. Fuji in summer but this year all the mountain trails are closed.

I once climbed Mt Fuji and would love to go up the mountain again some time, but need a little more patience for the opportunity.

Hope we can visit there next summer...


急用があり、東京大阪間を飛行機で往復しました。

平日のフライトだったからか、ビジネスマンがほとんどのようで、思ったより空席がありました。コロナの影響で欠航便もあったようで、機内サービスも限定されていました。

幸運にも富士山側の座席で、小さいながらも雲の間に夏の富士山を眺めることができました。

富士山頂には雪があるものと思っていましたが、今は夏！夏の富士山は雪がないんですねー！

夏には富士山に登山する人が多いですが、今年はコロナで登山道は全て閉鎖されています。

私も昔1度富士登山をしたことがあり、それ以来富士山が大好きでもう一度行きたいと思っていましたが…来年の夏には行けるといいな、と思います。

It is essential to eat and drink something cold in such hot summer, isn't it? 

It's good to have relax time in a cafe eating shaved ice I introduced on the other day, but you know that we can buy ice-lollies on the way back home at the station!

In the “551 Hourai” stores famous for pork ”Butaman” buns, Ice-lollies are sold in summer at the stalls/shops (some shops sell all year round), where are located not only at famous department stores, but also inside some train stations in Osaka.

If we buy 6 or more, we can get a box to pack them with free dry ice, so it is perfect to take them away!

My favorite flavor is Matcha(thick green tea). You can also choose other flavors, such as milk, azuki(sweet beans) or limited time flavor (mixed berries for now)etc. 

Each lolly has around 100 kcal so you can eat without feeling guilty:)

Please try this must-have item for summer in Osaka!



こんな暑い季節には冷たいものは欠かせませんよね！

先日ご紹介したようなお店に入ってかき氷をゆっくりいただくのもいいのですが、帰り際に駅構内で手軽に買えるアイスもあります！

豚まんで有名な551蓬莱のお店でアイスキャンデーが買えます！有名百貨店だけでなく大阪の主要駅構内にもお店がありますし、中には１年中アイスキャンデーが買えるところもあったりします。

6本以上購入すると箱に入れて無料でドライアイスも入れてもらえるんです！

私のお気に入りは抹茶味。他にもミルクにあずき、期間限定味(今ならミックスベリー!!)等があり、すべて1本100kcal前後で罪悪感なく食べられます(^ ^)v

大阪の夏のマストアイテム、是非食べてみてくださいね！

I really wanted to eat sushi, so I went to a sushi restaurant near J&M sharespace with my family today.

You all know sushi is one of typical Japanese foods, don’t you?
I think Sushi used to be thought as a high class expensive food that can be eaten at special events or times, but with reasonable carousel “Kaiten-sushi” restaurants and take-out sushi chains, sushi has become a familiar meal for ordinary people, we can eat it easily with our families and friends.

In today’s sushi restaurant I went to, it was not “Kaiten sushi”, but it is very great value for original hand-rolled “nigiri” sushi at lunch time!

日本食、といえばお寿司、ですよね！
昔は、お寿司は特別な時に食べる高級食、というイメージがあったと思いますが、安価な回転寿司や持ち帰り寿司チェーンができて、今やお寿司は庶民の私たちも家族や友人と気軽に安く食べられる身近な食事ですよね。

でも、今日行ったのは回っていないお寿司屋さん！回転していなくても、ランチタイムのにぎり寿司はとてもお得に食べられるんです！

On the day I went out to Takatsuki, a suburbs of Osaka, I found a limited shaved ice cup with lots of peaches in a fashionable tea room near JR station.

It is usually a tea & baked sweets shop, but I finally landed exactly the one I just wanted on the summery hot day, flipping thru the menu!!

A shaved ice cup with freshly diced peaches on the top and inside too! There is a little cup of cheese cream topping on the side. The fresh taste of peaches made me happy and it’s really Instagramable too^_^)v

The tea room is very popular not only locals but also fans from other areas, so we would need to wait in the queue before going in. 

There seem to be several branches, and the menus differ in each shop, so I wanted to visit other places as well. 

JR高槻駅近くのおしゃれな紅茶専門店で、8月限定のもものかき氷をいただきました。
暑かったのと、限定もの、というのでどうしても食べたくなってしまいました；；

ふわふわのかき氷の上にも中にも新鮮なももがいっぱい！お好みで上から濃厚チーズクリームをかけるとまた違った味わいが。これはもうインスタ映え映えでしたー♪

人気店のようなので、少し並ぶんですが、他にもいくつか系列店があるみたいです。お店ごとにメニューが異なるようなので他のところも行ってみたくなりました！

The rainy season ended! August! Real Japanese hot summer is finally here in Osaka!

Weather news reports the end of this year’s rainy season is 10 days later than normal, 7 days later than last year, and thirdly late end after the start of statistics.

It is supposed to be very very hot at least for a week, and the max temperature will continue to exceed 30 degrees every day. 

Now according to the forecast, today's highest temperature in Osaka is 35 degrees!! 

It is the typical summer heat of Japan, I know it, but have never got used to the dampness of high humidity....

“Cold mask”, I haven’t got it yet. Have you found it already? 
We will have to survive the heat wave anyway, by taking plenty of water!!

I really miss the shaved ice....but I took away a cold cafe au lait from a nearby Starbucks for today, and am feeling cool for a little break....(^^)v

梅雨が明けて、8月！やっと大阪に本来の夏がやってきましたー！
梅雨明けは平年より10日遅く、昨年より7日遅く、統計開始より3番目に遅い梅雨明けだそうです。

これから1週間は猛暑で、最高気温も連日30度超が続くんだそうですが、、、
予報では今日の大阪の最高気温は35度!!

いつものことですが、湿気の高い日本の典型的な夏には全く慣れないですね、、、

「冷え冷えマスク」、未だ手に入れることができてません！いつものことですが水分を十分とって熱中症に気を付けないと、ですね。

あーかき氷が恋しいー！

ですが、今日は近くのスタバの冷たいカフェオレをテイクアウトして涼んでます^_^)
