「豚の饅頭」という名を持つ花をご存知ですか？
小椋佳の「豚の饅頭のかおり」は大ヒットでした。
別名篝火花（かがりびばな）、花言葉は、清純・思慮深い・内気・はにかみといわれるシクラメンです。
トルコ辺り原産で豚が球根を好んで食べるので「豚のパン」と呼ばれていたことから明治末期に渡来したとき直訳されたそうです。実はほとんど香りのない花ですが、かがり火のように咲くシクラメンは極寒のこの季節を華やかに心豊かにしてくれます。
The Japanese hit song “The scent of cyclamen” made cyclamen flowers more popular across Japan. It made the image of cyclamen more elegant and noble. Everybody is amazed to learn its initial Japanese name is “scent of pork bun”. In Turkey, the cyclamens place of origin, it was called “pork bread” because pigs love to eat its bulbs.

明日は節分！恵方巻の日ですね。
節分は日本の伝統行事です。豆まきもしたいし鰯やヒイラギを忘れてはいけないと思いますが、恵方巻の丸かじりは最優先でやりたいことです。私は純和風派ですがエクレアやスウィーツ巻きも人気があるそうです。今年の恵方は南南東です。テレビではなく恵方を向いて丸かじりしましょう。
February 3rd is Setsubun. It is one of the 24 seasons of the lunar calendar, and it marks the end of winter. We have traditional custom to throw and scatter roasted soy beans inside and outside our houses to get the demons out and happiness in. I love the custom of eating Ehomaki, sushi-roll at Setsubun than throuwing roasted soy beans. We are supposed to eat Ehomaki without cutting it and facing the Eho, happy direction to realize our wishes.

Goodbye January, hello February.🤩

ZOO国際学院のTokkoです。
1月20日～2月3日は24節気の大寒です。暦通り日本列島は寒波に覆われ雪に弱い大都会は身動きもままなりません。こんな中でも寒稽古にチャレンジする人たちがいます。早朝寒さに打ち勝って厳しい訓練をすることにより精神的練磨を主な目的にしているそうです。子供たちは厳しい鍛錬で達成感と自信をつけ結構嬉しそうです。私は謹んで遠慮させて頂きます。
Kangeiko, which means mid-winter training is performed by people who enjoy martial arts, judo, and other artistic practices. The aim of Kangeiko is to train one’s mental strength through strict training. They look very satisfied when enduring harsh training.
