Welcome to Osaka Cooking Base 😊
We are a small, home-style cooking class held on weekday mornings at 10:00 a.m. in Osaka.
Available Menu
・Okonomiyaki
・Ramen+Gyoza
・Bento
・Katsu Curry

Our classes are intentionally small, creating a relaxed and personal atmosphere. This is not a commercial studio or a fast-paced cooking lesson. Instead, we cook together slowly, talk, laugh, and share stories — just like friends in a home kitchen.

In addition to cooking, our local tour takes you to hidden gems in the neighborhood — long-loved local shops where you can experience traditional Japanese food culture and enjoy real conversations with shop owners. It’s a uniquely Osaka experience that goes beyond recipes.

This class is perfect for those looking for something more personal and meaningful, rather than a standard, assembly-line style cooking class.

🎍Happy New Year 2026! 🎍✨
Looking back at 2025, I am filled with so much gratitude. To all the guests who chose to spend their precious travel time in my cooking class—thank you from the bottom of my heart. Every conversation we shared and every dish we cooked together became an irreplaceable memory for me🫶

I truly hope our connection continues long after your trip. Through the art of Japanese home cooking, I wish for us to stay connected and keep expanding our horizons together. 🌏

In Japan, we celebrate the New Year by visiting a shrine for "Hatsumode" (the first shrine visit of the year) to pray for a happy and healthy year ahead.
What are your wishes for this year? 💭

I have so many! Happiness for my family, world peace, success in my work, and progress in my studies. I’m committed to putting in the effort to make these prayers come true💪

On a side note… I’m also incredibly excited for the final episodes of Stranger Things coming soon! What a way to start January 1st! 😆

Wishing you all a year filled with endless smiles and joy.

Best wishes,
Osaka Cooking Base

Persimmon – a taste of Japanese autumn 🍂
Along with chestnuts and sweet potatoes, it’s one of the seasonal favorites.
This particular variety is only grown in a small region of Ise!

Exciting news!
We’ve partnered with TASKI Knife, and now use their beautifully crafted knives in our cooking classes at Osaka Cooking Base. 🥢✨

TASKI knives are made with meticulous care in Seki City, Gifu, a region famous for its centuries-old swordsmithing tradition — home to some of the world’s sharpest and most durable blades, including legendary samurai swords. ⚔️
This heritage continues today as skilled artisans blend traditional craftsmanship with modern innovation to create TASKI’s stunning knives.

Taking a little break from cooking classes—on holiday in Cairns!
Went straight to the pool despite being sleep-deprived.
Just picked up some ingredients at Woolworths that you can’t get in Japan!

I’m jealous of how much more variety of Mexican food there is here compared to back home.
Time to make tacos in Cairns!

If you have any recommendations, I’d love to hear them 😊

✨Learning About Koji – Japan’s Magical Mold!✨

I’ve recently started studying koji – a traditional Japanese ingredient that’s been used for centuries. It’s a type of mold (yes, really!) that grows on rice, soybeans, or barley, and it helps break down food to make it more flavorful and nutritious.

Koji is the secret behind amazing foods like miso, soy sauce, and sake. It’s full of enzymes that naturally ferment and enhance the umami in food!

It’s fascinating how something so small can have such a big impact on flavor and health. Stay tuned as I learn more about this incredible ingredient! 🌾🍶💫
