Important Announcement to All DSc (Diplomate in Chiropractic Science) Candidates

As part of our continuing commitment to maintaining high academic standards and producing competent chiropractic professionals, PALMS Chiropractic College has upgraded both the DSc Registration Examination and the DSc Graduation Examination.

The revised examinations place greater emphasis on a comprehensive understanding of chiropractic philosophy, science, clinical methods, and the basic medical sciences expected of an advanced chiropractic practitioner.

Diplomate in Chiropractic Science (DSc.) Conversion Course

Admission Requirements

(Effective for applications submitted from November onward)

To preserve the academic and clinical standards of PALMS Chiropractic College, admission to the Diplomate in Chiropractic Science (DSc.) Conversion Course is limited to applicants who have already completed formal postgraduate education in Osteopathic Manual Medicine.

Eligibility Requirements

All applicants must:

1. Hold a recognized qualification in Osteopathic Manual Medicine (e.g., DOMP) or an equivalent postgraduate credential.

2. Submit official documentation demonstrating that their DOMP (or equivalent) curriculum included sufficient education and practical training in the following areas:

- Neurophysiology and spinal biomechanics.
- Static palpation, motion palpation, and High Velocity Low Amplitude (HVLA) techniques for the pelvis and the entire spine.
- The philosophy and principles of Osteopathy and/or Chiropractic.
- The theory and practical application of cranial manipulation.

3. Successfully pass the PALMS Chiropractic College DSc. Conversion Course Admission Examination.

4. Submit verification of all professional licenses and academic qualifications.

Important Notice

Applicants should note that not all DOMP qualifications meet the admission requirements for this program. Any DOMP curriculum that does not provide adequate theoretical instruction and supervised practical training in HVLA spinal manipulation will not be considered an acceptable prerequisite for admission.

The DSc. Conversion Course is designed for experienced manual medicine practitioners who already possess a solid foundation in osteopathic principles and spinal manipulation, allowing the program to focus on advanced chiropractic science rather than introductory manual therapy training.

「強く押すこと」が、本当に優れたアジャストメントなのでしょうか？

学生から最も多く受ける質問の一つがあります。

「重度の神経症状を持つ患者には、やはりガンステッドのような強い手技の方が効くのではありませんか？」

私も昔はそう考えていました。

だからこそ私は25年以上にわたり、ガンステッドを徹底的に学び、数え切れないほどの症例に応用してきました。その価値も、その精密な分析法も、私は今でも深く尊敬しています。

しかし、長年の臨床の中で一つの事実に気づきました。

患者の神経系は、「力の大きさ」には反応しているのではありません。

神経系が反応しているのは、「適切な刺激」と「正確なタイミング」なのです。

もし本当に「強い力」が治療効果を決定するのであれば、世界で最も優れたテクニックはハンマーになってしまいます。

しかし現実は違います。

臨床とは、どれだけ強く押したかではありません。

どれだけ正確に神経系へ入力できたかです。

私が現在、ターグルリコイルやアクティベーター、そしてドロップ機構を高く評価している理由は、「軽い力だから」ではありません。

神経系が防御反応を起こす前に、正確な刺激を与えられるからです。

これは理論だけではありません。

私は毎日の臨床で、施術前後のX線評価と機能的脚長検査（Functional Leg Length Test）を用いて、その変化を客観的に確認しています。

長年にわたり症例を追跡した結果、私自身の臨床では、ターグルリコイルやアクティベーター、ドロップテーブルを組み合わせたプロトコルの方が、ガンステッド単独よりも安定した結果を示す症例を数多く経験してきました。

それにもかかわらず、「重症だから強く押さなければならない」と考える人がいます。

私は、その考え方こそ見直す必要があると思っています。

神経症状が重い患者ほど、神経系は過敏になっています。

そのような患者に必要なのは、さらに大きな力でしょうか。

それとも、神経系が受け入れやすい、より正確で効率的な刺激でしょうか。

私は後者だと考えています。

もちろん、ガンステッドは今でも素晴らしいテクニックです。

しかし、それが「最も力強いから優れている」のではありません。

優れている理由は、分析が正確であり、コンタクトが正確であり、ライン・オブ・ドライブが正確だからです。

もし、その同じ分析とベクトルを維持したまま、さらに高速で、より少ない力で、患者にも術者にも負担をかけずに神経系へ入力できるのであれば、その方法を選ばない理由はありません。

臨床家は、自分のプライドを証明するためにアジャストメントを行うのではありません。

患者の神経系に最も適切な入力を与えるためにアジャストメントを行います。

皆さんには、「力が強い＝効果が高い」という固定観念から卒業していただきたいと思います。

本当に見るべきなのは、患者が痛そうに見えたかではありません。

大きな音が鳴ったかでもありません。

重要なのは、施術後のX線評価がどう変化したのか。

そして、機能的脚長検査がどのように改善したのか。

その客観的な結果です。

私たちは、伝統を守るために教育しているのではありません。

患者に最も良い結果をもたらす方法を追求するために教育しています。

教科書を尊重してください。

しかし、最終的に皆さんを導くのは、思い込みではなく、毎日の臨床で積み重ねられる客観的な結果です。
