"Osaka Port Tempozan will definitely get better - the thoughts of the chef at 《Creative Sushi Restaurant Hikari》.

Twelve years ago, I had the privilege of helping Mr. Michigami recruit for the ramen restaurant he ran at the time.

After graduating from culinary school, he trained at a well-established sushi restaurant, opened a ramen and Italian restaurant, and then opened his own sushi restaurant, 《Creative Sushi Restaurant Hikari》, in Osaka's Minato Ward.

I went to his restaurant yesterday to have lunch. He said, “Welcome! ”He greeted me with a baritone voice and I sat down at the counter. For lunch this time, I ordered the SASHIMI set meal. In fact, I had ordered the delivery sushi from his restaurant during the COVID-19 most popular period. The sushi was so impressive (especially the sea urchin and salmon) that I was determined to have the sashimi this time around. The sashimi was very fresh and thick, and as we ate it, I listened to the stories of the hardships he had gone through in the early days of meeting Mr. Michigami.

He seems to have made up his mind at the Port of Osaka, where his restaurant is located. My eyes were drawn to a painting displayed in front of his shop. It was Mr. Michigami's painting of "Osaka Port of the Future". When I saw this painting, I thought, "If we look forward, always smile, and enjoy the present, our future will be better for sure”.

I often ask myself these days. 'Why do I enjoy eating out alone?' .
Maybe it's not just to enjoy the good food and the space, but also to meet the "people" who serve the food.

【Study in Japan】
The Need for a Career Education Coordinator in Japan

Hi, it's Isao here. Lately in Japan, the heat wave, the continued high price of vegetables (due to the prolonged rainy season) and, as far as my family is concerned, the unusually rapid disappearance of barley tea and ice cream, have been putting a strain on our finances. This is due to COVID-19 and the heat wave, which has caused us to stay home more often. And the other reason I stay home is to study.

I am currently studying to become a Career Education Coordinator. I would like to share my thoughts and feelings on why Japan and the rest of the world need to have a career education coordinator.

One of the reasons for this is that coordinators are needed to serve as a link between the community and the educational field. In Japan, career education is defined as "education that encourages career development through the cultivation of the skills and attitudes necessary to lay the groundwork for social and professional independence of each individual. This means that when children and students go out into the world, they should ask themselves "What is the purpose of work? What do we learn to live and work for? I believe that career education is an education that helps students to find the purpose of life and the meaning of their existence. This career education is a place for learning that does not exist in the school curriculum, and is only possible in collaboration with local resources and human resources in the real world. Coordinators are the only professionals who are able to plan and provide schools with this kind of education by being aware of the needs of the school, being sensitive to the qualities and skills required by society, and coordinating and coordinating with those outside the educational field.

Secondly, coordinators need to work to further raise awareness of the need for career education in society and to actively introduce more of its learning offerings into educational settings, because in the context of life with COVID-19, academic time is being squeezed and teachers are too busy with their subjects. It is. As a result, career education has been put on the back burner, or even cancelled, as a matter of fact. I think one of the problems is that this career education is secondary to academic studies. In my opinion, working is a way of life, and one that people learn to be themselves. This is the essence of education, and if we simply force students to learn a subject without realizing the purpose of learning, the result will be that they will be less motivated to learn and will avoid learning. Rather than choosing between academic and career education because of a lack of time, coordinators must continue to communicate to society that they are equal and that they are both interconnected.

As a member of the Career Education Coordinator, I would like to be in a position to improve education in Japan and to design the lives of foreign students from abroad.

【Travel to Japan】
Tourism to Japan is changing from "experience" to "interpersonal"!?

Hi, this is Isao. The rainy season is finally over in Japan, and the hot days will continue. How is everyone doing?

Now, as the world is forced to refrain from going out because of the lack of prospects for convergence of COVID-19, I'm trying to do as many fun things as I can. One of those things is “Travel on the Brain”. Nowadays, the travel industry is becoming more and more active in new endeavors such as online and virtual tours. I would like to take such tours when I get a chance, but right now I enjoy looking back at photos of places I've been to in the past, closing my eyes and reminiscing about my trips back then. The things I saw, the food I ate, and the happenings that happened are all memorable, but what I remember most about my travels are the people I met on my trips - a wonderful encounter.

Travel is all about refreshing your body and mind by experiencing the unreal. Since we're spending a lot of time and money on a trip, we often look up information about the destination and make plans in advance so that we can enjoy it as much as possible. This advance preparation is necessary for us to enjoy the sights of the destination efficiently within the limited time and place we have, and from the stage of doing so, we feel elated and the trip has begun. However, I believe that this is just a confirmation process, an answer to the plans we have made and the experiences we have had at the destination, and that the only way to enjoy it in a more meaningful way is to meet people at the destination that were not planned, or rather unplanned.

I myself went on a trip to Hong Kong last year with my family. We had kids, so of course, we had to plan it meticulously. We enjoyed Hong Kong Disneyland, enjoyed the high-end Chinese food we had booked in advance, and everything was going according to plan. However, on the way to the shopping trip, I got involved in a traffic problem and for the first time in this trip, I had to deviate from my plan. I met a Japanese lady living in Hong Kong and she told me what caused the traffic problem, how to get around and where she recommended shops to buy souvenirs, so I was able to experience something I hadn't planned and buy some souvenirs. Meeting this person was very memorable for our family and was one of the reasons why we want to go back to Hong Kong.

Encounters with people, I think, are one of the most important tourism materials after sightseeing spots, gourmet food and shopping. In Japan, the demand for tourism that makes use of local resources, as seen in the growing demand for destination-based tourism services, is changing in recent years, and in addition to seeking out unique local experiences, it is also becoming more of a way to meet the people who provide the experiences. I would like to share information about Japan online so that I, as a Japanese citizen, can be one of the materials for visitors to Japan.

【Work in Japan】
Japanese companies are looking for you as a foreigner, not Japanese language skills like the JLPT!

As part of my job, I meet with and consult with foreigners almost every day. I think many of them talk about their Japanese language skills, or in other words, their "The Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) level". Of course, a minimum level of Japanese is necessary to work in Japan, but the truth is that Japanese companies want to know more about your abilities and want you to show them that you are different than that. This is exactly what they want to see in your communication skills.

I believe that it is about "moving the other person's heart". The person with whom you communicate is not an object, but a person. People think and act on their emotions.

How to do "moving the other person's heart"?

●Be creative in the way you talk to them and ask questions.
●Be conscious of building trust on a regular basis.
●Accept that the other person is different from you and affirm that person

If you are aware of these things and try to communicate with people, your ability to do so will improve and you will be able to have a smoother relationship with people in Japanese society at work and in your life.

What kind of people move you?

27/07/2020

At yesterday's career education coordinator training course, we worked with people in a variety of positions and roles, from company managers to in-service teachers.
One of them was 「What are the skills required in the future society?」My team may consider the following

1: The ability to affirm self and others
2: Ability to set issues in the information society
3: The ability to coordinate people and objects

There is no answer.
What are the skills you think are necessary in today's society?

【Travel to Japan】
On July 18, Fukui Citizens International Association (Fukui Prefecture) held an event for international students living in Japan to enjoy the Japanese summer atmosphere in yukata.

With Yokokan (is a garden created in the Edo period) as a backdrop, many international students seem to have enjoyed the yukata culture.

Nowadays, international students in Japan must be living a cramped life as it is difficult for them to return to their alma mater and they are required to refrain from going out.

In such a situation, this event is sure to remain strongly in their minds.

By the way, do you know the difference between a yukata and a kimono?

【Work in Japan】COVID-19's impact on permissible "internships for the purpose of recruitment!?

Until now, MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-Japan) has only allowed internships for educational purposes.

According to an article in the Nikkei newspaper on April 23, 2020, the Keidanren and the MEXT have agreed to make the selection and hiring period year-round and to operate internships flexibly, as COVID-19's impact has reduced opportunities for recruitment and job hunting.Until now, foreign companies and venture capitalists have not been able to "internships for the purpose of recruitment, and now it seems to be spreading to major domestic companies It is.

Benefit 1: "Fewer mismatches.
Benefit 2: "Shorter Job Search Time
