Hello everyone!
In just a short time, Japan will be entering its major holiday season known as Golden Week (GW). �
Today, we would like to give you an introduction to
Japan's Golden Week.

Golden Week is a series of holidays formed by combining four Japanese public holidays with the existing weekends (Saturday and Sunday). �Many people take days off during the weekdays in between, creating an extended vacation. �By taking a weekday off, one can enjoy up to 9 consecutive days off this year. �
Golden Week is considered a significant event for Japanese people,�following other major occasions such as New Year's Day, Obon, and Christmas.

During Golden Week, there are four public holidays in Japan:
・April 29th: Showa Day
・May 3rd: Constitution Memorial Day
・May 4th: Greenery Day
・May 5th: Children's Day

During this period, many people embark on trips, return to their hometowns, and spend quality time with family and friends. �

GW（ゴールデンウィーク）は
４つの日本の祝日と既存にある週末（土・日）を組み合わせてできた
連休になります。�多くの人が途中にある平日に休みを取って
連休を作ったりします。�平日を休みにした場合、
今年は最大9連休を作ることができます。
このGWは日本人にとってお正月やお盆、
クリスマスなどに続いて�とても大きなビックイベントなのです。

GW期間中にある日本の祝日は
４つの祝日が含まれます。

・5月3日　憲法記念日
・5月4日　みどりの日

Hello everyone!
Today we would like to introduce a unique event in Okinawa called the "Seimei-sai" �or "Shimi" in the Okinawan language.
�The event is held in early April and is a time for families and relatives to gather and clean their ancestors' graves. �Although traditionally held in early April, many places now hold the event on weekends to make it more accessible for families and relatives to participate.

On the day of "Shimi," people in Okinawa go to their ancestors' graves and clean them with their families and relatives. �
After cleaning, they offer traditional Okinawan food to their ancestors while eating at the grave site.
�Okinawan graves are very different from Japanese graves on mainland Japan as they are much larger in size.

Okinawan culture has a deep history and many traditions that have been passed down to the present day.

今日はとても独特な4月に行われる沖縄のイベント
「清明祭」を紹介したいと思います。

�そのイベントは、沖縄の言葉で「シーミー」と言われ、
日本語では「清明祭（せいめいさい）」と言われます。�
「シーミー」は大体4月の初め頃に行われますが、
今日では家族や親戚が参加しやすいよう、
４月の週末で行うところも多くみられます。

「シーミー」の日は、沖縄の人々は家族や親戚と集まり、
先祖のお墓へ行き、お墓の掃除をします。
�掃除をした後は、お墓で沖縄の伝統的なご飯を
先祖にお供えしながら食べます。�
また、沖縄のお墓はとても大きく、
本州の日本のお墓とは全く違います。��

沖縄の伝統的な文化はとても歴史が深く、
今でも受け継がれている文化が多くあります。�

�As April arrives, Japan embraces a fresh start
and a renewed atmosphere. �
Today, we'd like to discuss how the fiscal year is counted in Japan.

In Japanese culture, the new fiscal year begins in April. �
This is when students have their entrance ceremonies
and new employees join companies. �
On the other hand, graduation ceremonies typically take place
in March. �This makes the Japanese fiscal year different from the calendar year, which runs from January to December. �The fiscal year extends from April to the following March. �So, when April comes around, it ushers in an exciting period of new beginnings.

April is a month of fresh starts for countless individuals, including new employees �and students entering middle school, high school, and university. �
Given that it's also the start of the fiscal year, it's an ideal time for people to embark on new adventures or challenges.

Why not seize this opportunity at the start of the new fiscal year to try something new and exciting?��

Hello everyone!
Today, we would like to introduce some ways to study Japanese. �Many people who become interested in Japan and want to learn Japanese often struggle with where to start studying. �
In fact, Japanese is a unique language that uses three types of characters: hiragana, katakana, and kanji.
People who study Japanese for the first time tend to think, "There's so much to learn, and it's tough!"

�However, it's okay if you learn a little at a time! We recommend starting by mastering hiragana. �Hiragana has 46 characters, and there are also voiced sounds, semi-voiced sounds, and contracted sounds created by applying basic hiragana. �Among these, start by learning the basic 46 hiragana characters and then gradually add voiced, semi-voiced, and contracted sounds.
It's easy once you remember the basics of hiragana!

��In our school, we use hiragana cards to help students learn the sounds and shapes of hiragana. �Start by memorizing one hiragana character at a time. Then, once you've learned hiragana, try learning words. �Gradually raising the level in this way helps students advance their learning without feeling too overwhelmed. �

In particular, hiragana cards are highly recommended for beginners, so we've provided a link to a sample below! ��Nowadays, you can also purchase them at nearby 100-yen shops. �If you're interested, please check it when you go to there.

�今日は、日本語の勉強の仕方について紹介していきたいと思います。
��日本に興味を持ち始めて、日本語を勉強したい！と思っても�何から勉強し始めたらいいかわからないという悩みを持つ人は多くいます。
�実際に日本語はひらがな、カタカナ、漢字という3つの文字を使って�言葉が作られている独特な言語です。
初めて勉強する人は「覚えることがたくさんで大変！」という印象を
�持ってしまいがちですが、少しずつ覚えていけば大丈夫！

�おすすめの勉強法は、まずはひらがなを習得すること。
ひらがなは全部で46文字あり、それ以外にも濁音、半濁音、拗音など�基本のひらがなを応用して作る音があります。�
そのなかで、まずは基本の46文字のひらがな覚えて
少しずつ濁音、半濁音、拗音を追加で覚えていきます。
基本のひらがなの成り立ちを覚えてしまえば簡単！

��私たちスクールではひらがなカードを用いて�ひらがなの音と形を覚えるようにしています。�まずは１文字のひらがなを覚える。
�そして、ひらがなを覚えたら単語に挑戦する。�という感じで
少しずつステップを上げていくと�苦手意識をあまり持たずに学習を進められるのでおすすめです。�

特に、ひらがなカードは勉強し始めの方におすすめです。

Hello everyone.
Today, we would like to introduce an event in Okinawa
that will take place in March.


It is gradually getting warmer and more comfortable in Okinawa.
 The island is the first place in Japan where the temperature starts to warm up, so the spring flowers start to bloom earlier than any other place in Japan. 

We have previously introduced the cherry blossoms in Okinawa, and this time we would like to introduce the Azalea Festival held in Higashi village in the northern part of Okinawa.



This is the earliest azalea festival in Japan and takes place every year from early to mid March in the Azalea Garden in the Kenmin-no-mori Park.

This garden is said to have about 50,000 azaleas, which bloom in March and are in full bloom in a variety of colors.
 The festival started in 1983 and will be held for the 41st time in 2023, making it a long-standing favorite event.

みなさん、こんにちは。
今日は、3月に行われる沖縄でのイベントについて
紹介していきたいと思います。


だんだん、沖縄は暖かく過ごしやすくなってきました。

沖縄は日本の中で気温が一番最初に暖かくなり始めるので
春の花が咲き始めるのも日本で一番早いです。

前に沖縄の桜の紹介をしましたが、
今回は沖縄の北部、東村で行われる
「東村つつじ祭り」を紹介したいと思います。



東村つづじ祭りは毎年3月上旬から中旬にかけて、
沖縄本島北部にある東村の県民の森つつじ園で行われる
日本一早いつつじ祭りです。

このつつじ園には約５万本のつつじが植えられているといわれ

3月ごろに開花を迎え、色鮮やかに咲き揃います。

1983年から始まり、今年2023年で第４１回を迎える
長年愛されているイベントです。


ぜひ、色鮮やかなつつじと高台から見える青い海の眺めを

楽しみにいってみてはいかがでしょうか？

Hello everyone.

Today, we would like to introduce you to
a Japanese event in March called "Hinamatsuri".

Hinamatsuri is a Japanese event held on March 3 every year
to celebrate and pray for the healthy growth and happiness of girls.　

On Hinamatsuri, families and relatives, especially those with
little girls, often gather together to celebrate by eating clam soup and chirashi sushi, which are considered lucky foods.

Another decoration often seen on Hinamatsuri is the doll called Hina-ningyo (dolls for Girls' Day).　

The reason for displaying hina dolls is that they are said to protect children from illness and accidents on their behalf,
and some households display hina dolls
as the Hinamatsuri day approaches.


Hinamatsuri is a day of celebration for girls,
but of course there is also a day of celebration for boys in May in Japan, which we will introduce to you soon!

みなさん、こんにちは。

今日は3月にある日本の行事に
「ひな祭り」について
紹介していきたいと思います。

ひな祭りは毎年３月３日にある
日本の行事で、
女の子の健やかな成長や幸せを祈って
お祝いをする日です。

ひな祭りの日には、特に小さい女の子のいる
家族や親戚で集まり
縁起のいい食べ物とされるハマグリのお吸い物や
ちらし寿司などを食べて
お祝いをすることが多いです。

また、ひな祭りによく見る飾り物で
雛人形という人形があります。
雛人形を飾る理由としては、子供たちの代わりに
病気や事故から守ってくれると言われていて

ひな祭りの日が近くなってくると
雛人形を飾ったりする
お家もあります。


ひな祭りは女の子のためのお祝いの日でしたが

もちろん日本には５月に男の子の
お祝いの日もありますので
また、紹介しますね！

As we are approaching the end of January, we would like to introduce the earliest "cherry blossoms" in Japan.

In Okinawa, the cherry blossoms start blooming in mid-January, which is the earliest in Japan.
The cherry trees we usually see in Honshu are called ''Someiyoshino'', but in Okinawa, a different type of cherry tree called ''Higanzakura blooms.

According to our research, the cherry blossom season started around the end of last week in the northern part of Okinawa.
There will be events such as cherry blossom festivals starting from the northern part of Okinawa, so please check the internet for more information about the cherry blossom season in Okinawa!

新年のご挨拶が遅くなってしまいましたが

早速ですが今日は、1月末に差し掛かってきたということで
日本で一番早い「沖縄の桜」について紹介していきたいと思います。

日本の桜は春に咲くという印象が強いと思いますが
実はここ沖縄では、一月の中旬から桜が咲き始め、沖縄は日本で一番最初に桜が咲きます。
私たちがいつも、日本の本州で見るさくらは’’ソメイヨシノ’’と言いますが、
沖縄では違う種類の’’ヒガンザクラ’’という桜が咲きます。

調べてみたところ、桜シーズンは先週末ごろから沖縄の北部ではスタートしている模様です。
沖縄の北部の方からさくら祭りなどのイベントが開催される予定なので
是非、インターネットなどで沖縄の桜の季節について調べて見てくださいね！
