This year, Japan will have more public holidays that coincide with a weekend, undoubtedly wonderful for the Japanese and residents who can take an extra day to spend with their families and relax.

These are dates that visitors should consider for their plans, making airplane, hotel, and park reservations in advance to avoid getting caught in the crowds.

Thus, the Cabinet Office has published on its website the list of holidays to consider. The attached calendar is taken from the Holidays-Calendar website.

JANUARY:
New Year: January 1 (considered rest days on 2 and 3)
Coming of Age Day: January 8

FEBRUARY:
Foundation Day: February 11
Emperor's Birthday: February 23

MARCH:
Spring Equinox: March 20

GOLDEN WEEK: April 29 - May 5

APRIL:
Showa Day (birthday of the previous emperor): April 29

MAY:
Constitution Memorial Day: May 3
Greenery Day: May 4
Children's Day: May 5 (celebrated on May 6)

JULY:
Marine Day: July 15

AUGUST:

[Mountain Day: August 11, celebrated on the 12th]

SEPTEMBER:
Respect for the Aged Day: September 16
Autumnal Equinox Day: September 22. Celebrated on the 23rd.
