"Spray the cup! Can I get more water?”

Today was a special treat for the students. We took a trip to he local park and had a ‘Water Play Day’. The students came with their own sq**rt bottles and water blasters to get their friends wet. The teachers set up a racing game where the students had to spray water in a cup on a string and see who got to the end first. The students would spray the cup and then have to refill their blaster with water and continue spraying the cup. At the end of the event, everyone was soaked! It’s always a nice treat on a hot summer day to go outside and enjoy the park with some water toys. Plus, it's a perfect way to enjoy the summer season!

“Can I have 3 colors? I want sparkles too.”

At the park, the students see dragonflies everyday. Today they had a chance to make their very own! Each student decided what colors of pipe cleaners and beads to use to create their dragonfly. They then twisted their pipe cleaners and glued down their jewels, sparkles and eyes all by themselves! After they finished decorating it, they used a glue gun, with their amazing teacher’s assistance, to glue down the dragonfly’s legs.

This craft was full of important ways to help reinforce a child’s confidence. From the very beginning of the activity, they got to choose what colors, beads, jewels they would use. They also chose if they wanted to put it on the body of the dragonfly or on their wings. Every design choice was up to the student and nothing was wrong. This shows the students that it’s ok to be different and encourages individuality, as well as helps build confidence. It also greatly helps their fine motor skills as they have to grasp and twist the pipe cleaners and carefully use small amounts of glue to place their decorations where they wanted to.

The big kiddies learn more about different kinds of transportation by playing fun games such as transportation bingo! During the weekly project work, Oto and Eisuke start building their own fire truck for our fire station in the classroom. We also learned the traffic lights song.

交通ビンゴなどの楽しいゲームで、さまざまな交通手段について学びます。週に一度のプロジェクトワークでは、教室内の消防署で使う消防車を自分たちで作り始めました。また、信号機の歌も学びました。

The kids worked for few days on this activity. They created their own emojis by taking photos first of each other's facial expressions. Then, they named the emotions that the emojis represent and put on the wall. They will use the emojis as a reference if ever they are having trouble naming how they are feeling.

Tiny tots did a "Galaxy Magic Milk Experiment". We used milk, food coloring, dishwashing detergent, and cotton swabs. When we dipped the cotton swabs in dishwashing detergent, everyone was surprised to see the color changed. It was a fun activity for everyone.
