Beyond the typical tourist path, Lanikai at Kahalu’u is a rare and sacred experience at one of the Hawaiian Royal Family’s ancestral homes and land, where you are hosted by direct lineal descendants of the Umi-a-Līloa ruling Chiefs (Aliʻi) and families of Kahaluʻu who have stewarded this ground for centuries.
The evening is centered around an archaeological tour of the Royal Complex followed by a presentation of the sacred art of Hula directed by kumu hula sisters Kaʻea Lyons-Yglesias and Kahelelani Alohikea-Smith. The hula, shared by our traditional hālau dedicated to preserving the ancient movements and stories of our specific hula and (House of Unauna) family lineage. Witness hula performed not as a show, but as a profound prayer and historical record, guided by mo’okūʻauhau (genealogy) in place.
Adding to the depth of the night is their farm-to-table connection—the family continues the legacy of their ancestors by growing their own food right up the road in Keauhou, bringing the literal taste of the land to your plate. As a non-profit mission, every moment here directly supports the Hālau Ka‘eaikahelelani school and the preservation of this sacred site. If you want to experience the true soul of The Hawaiian Islands in Kona, this is it. 🌺👑✨
