MYP 2 Mathematics Activity "Snacks for Service"
As part of their unit on algebraic expressions and real-life applications of mathematics, the MYP 2 Mathematics students conducted a small activity called “Snacks for Service.”
Students sold snacks to teachers throughout the day as part of their assessment. Through this activity, they applied mathematics to calculate costs and profits while also developing their communication and teamwork skills.
All profits earned from the activity were donated to charity through the Lawson Group’s “Community Happiness” Fundraising Campaign. As part of their Service as Action experience, students contributed to a program that provides scholarships to students from single-parent families.
MYP2の数学の授業では、「Snacks for Service」という活動を実施しました。
この活動は、代数式と数学の実生活への応用を学ぶ単元の一環として行われたものです。生徒たちは評価課題の一つとして、先生方にスナックを販売しました。
活動を通して、原価や利益の計算に数学を活用するとともに、コミュニケーション力やチームワーク力も高めることができました。
また、活動で得られた利益は、生徒たちのService as Actionの取り組みとして寄付されました。寄付先は、ひとり親家庭の子どもたちへの奨学金を支援する、ローソングループの「マチの幸せ」募金です。
教室で学んだ知識を実社会と結び付けながら、地域社会への貢献についても考える貴重な機会となりました。
