Polite form in English is not as distinct and obvious as it is in Japanese. But there are many situations when it's important to speak with care in English.
英語の丁寧語は、日本語ほど明確ではありません。しかし、英語で丁寧に話すことが重要な場面はたくさんあります。

For example, when talking about the death of a loved one, we avoid saying "so-and-so died". Instead, it is best to say "so-and-so passed away"
例えば、愛する人の死について話すとき、「あのひとdied」という言い方は避ける。代わりに、「あのひとpassed away 」と言うのがベストであります。

Let's practice using "passed away" with some questions and examples.
いくつかの質問と例文を使って、「passed away 」の使い方を練習してみましょう。

When some of the religious leaders were unkind to Jesus and his friends, Jesus did not respond in kind, or even scold them, like many people would be tempted to do. Instead, Jesus told them a story to illustrate God's steadfast love and mercy for ALL people.
宗教指導者たちがイエスとその友人たちに不親切な態度をとったとき、イエスは、多くの人が誘惑に駆られるような親切な対応をしたり、叱ったりはしなかった。

After Jesus' cousin, John the Baptist, confronted King Herod and his sister-in-law (now wife) Herodias about their sexual sin, John was thrown into prison. And Herodias, out for blood, plotted to kill John.
イエスのいとこであるバプテスマのヨハネが、ヘロデ王とその義理の姉（現在の妻）ヘロディアスの性的な罪について立ち向かった後、ヨハネは牢獄に入れられた。ヘロディアスはout for bloodになってヨハネの殺害を企てた。

Jesus told a story to illustrate how the Lord says, "The more the merrier!" when He invites people to be part of His kingdom.
イエスは、神様が御国の一員となるよう人々を招かれるとき「多ければ多いほど良い！」と言われることを説明するために、ある物語を話されました。

The invitation is open to everyone, but....people have a choice.
Reject the invitation, or accept it and enter into His house with joy.
Which will you decide?

In tough times, what should be the focus of our hope? Some people have superstitions about special objects or rituals that can help them. Others believe following traditions or rules is their best hope. In John 5:1-18, Jesus shows that he is more powerful than superstitions or traditions.
困難な時、私たちの希望の焦点は何であるべきか？自分を助けてくれる特別な物や儀式に迷信を抱く人もいます。また、伝統や規則に従うことが一番の希望だと信じている人もいます。ヨハネによる福音書5章1節から18節で、イエスは迷信や伝統よりも力強い方であることを示しています。
