【第279回例会レポート】2026年7月26日
今回は、2名のゲストを迎えるとともに、久しぶりに参加されたメンバーとの再会もあり、賑やかで温かい例会となりました。
ゲストのお二人は初参加でありながら、日本語・英語それぞれのテーブルトピックに果敢に挑戦され、その場でご自身の考えをまとめてスピーチされる姿が印象的でした。
■準備スピーチ・論評
M.Oさんは、ご自身の経験をもとに「自分の『○○すべき』と相手の『○○すべき』」の違いが人間関係の衝突につながることを紹介し、相手を受け入れるためには自分自身の許容範囲を広げ、互いの違いを認め合うことの大切さを語られました。
論評のK.Sさんは、ご自身の経験とも重ねながら、「自分のべき」と「相手のべき」の違いを客観的に見つめることの大切さに触れ、スピーチのテーマの深さについて丁寧に振り返られました。
N.Kさんは、「難しいことは難しい」というテーマで、複雑な内容を単純化し過ぎることで正確さが失われる可能性を指摘し、物事を深く理解することの大切さを伝えられました。
論評のK.Tさんは、内容・構成・伝え方という3つの観点から論評され、難しいテーマをどのように分かりやすく届けるかについて、具体的な提案をしてくださいました。
M.Sさんは、ピースボート世界一周クルーズでの体験を五感を切り口に紹介し、「知ること」と「実際に体験すること」の違いや、人生を豊かにする時間の使い方について語られました。
論評のR.Sさんは、旅に出たきっかけ、写真による臨場感、日常との比較という観点から、スピーチの魅力を丁寧に振り返られました。
なお、当日はキャンセルによる急な担当変更もありましたが、K.TさんとR.Sさんが快く役割を引き受けてくださり、経験を活かした柔軟な対応で例会を支えてくださいました。
■テーブルトピックス
日本語テーブルトピックスでは、K.Eさんが「私のリラックス方法」をテーマに、愛犬との暮らしを振り返り、大変なことも多い中で、抱っこをする時間が何よりの癒やしになっていることを紹介されました。
ゲストのA.Nさんは、「外出先の思い出」をテーマに駐車違反という失敗談をユーモアたっぷりに披露し、会場を和ませました。
英語テーブルトピックスでは、M.Sさんが「My Biggest Fear」をテーマに、ピースボート乗船中の不思議な体験を紹介されました。当初は幽霊の仕業かと思うほどの悪夢に悩まされましたが、原因はベッドのわずかな傾きだったというユーモアあふれるエピソードで、会場を和ませました。
また、ゲストのH.Kさんも「Which do you like better, the mountains or the sea?」というテーマに挑戦され、堂々とスピーチされました。
■総合論評
総合論評を担当されたK.Mさんは、初めて会場設定を担当される中、多少のトラブルにも落ち着いて対応し、さらに例会全体を丁寧に振り返ってくださいました。
今回は、K.Hさんがタイマーと「あー」「えー」といったつなぎ言葉の使用回数を同時に計測できる新しいアプリを試験的に導入してくださいました。
計時とつなぎ言葉の計測を自動で行える精度の高さに驚かされ、ダブルロールやトリプルロールを補う心強いツールとして、今後の活躍が期待されます。
今回も学びと笑顔があふれる例会となりました。
【The 279th Regular Meeting Report】 July 26, 2026
This meeting was filled with a warm and lively atmosphere as we welcomed two guests and also had the pleasure of seeing some members who had not attended for a while.
Although it was their first time joining our meeting, both guests courageously took on the Table Topics in both Japanese and English.
It was impressive to see them organize their thoughts on the spot and deliver their speeches with confidence.
■Prepared Speeches & Evaluations
TM M.O. shared, based on personal experiences, how the differences between “my own shoulds” and “other people’s shoulds” can lead to conflicts in relationships.
TM M.O. emphasized the importance of expanding our own range of acceptance and recognizing each other’s differences in order to better understand and accept others.
TM K.S., the evaluator, reflected on the speech by relating it to personal experiences and highlighted the importance of objectively looking at the differences between “my shoulds” and “others’ shoulds.”
TM K.S. also provided thoughtful feedback on the depth of the speech’s theme.
TM N.K. delivered a speech titled “Difficult Things Are Difficult,” pointing out that oversimplifying complex topics can sometimes result in losing accuracy.
TM N.K. shared the importance of gaining a deeper understanding of things.
TM K.T., the evaluator, provided feedback from three perspectives: content, structure, and delivery.
TM K.T. offered specific suggestions on how to make a challenging topic easier for the audience to understand.
TM M.S. introduced experiences from a round-the-world Peace Boat cruise, using the five senses as a perspective.
TM M.S. shared the difference between “knowing something” and “actually experiencing it,” as well as how to use time in ways that enrich our lives.
TM R.S., the evaluator, reviewed the strengths of the speech by focusing on three aspects: the reason for starting the journey, the vivid atmosphere created through photographs, and comparisons with everyday life.
On the day of the meeting, we also had some last-minute changes due to cancellations.
TM K.T. and TM R.S. kindly accepted the changed roles and supported the meeting through their flexibility and experience.
■Table Topics
In the Japanese Table Topics session,
TM K.E. spoke on the topic “My Way of Relaxing.”
TM K.E. reflected on life with a beloved dog and shared that, despite many challenges, the time spent holding the dog has become the greatest source of comfort and relaxation.
Guest Ms.A.N. spoke on the topic “Memories from Places I Have Visited” and entertained the audience with a humorous story about a parking violation, bringing smiles to everyone.
In the English Table Topics session,
TM M.S. spoke on the topic “My Biggest Fear” and shared a mysterious experience during the Peace Boat cruise.
TM M.S initially thought the nightmares were caused by a ghost, but the actual reason was simply the slight tilt of the bed.
This humorous story brought laughter and warmth to the room.
Guest Mr.H.K. also took on the challenge of the topic “Which do you like better, the mountains or the sea?” and delivered a confident speech despite being a first-time participant.
■General Evaluation
TM K.M., the General Evaluator, handled the first-time venue setup role calmly, even when facing some unexpected issues.
TM K.M. also provided a thoughtful review of the entire meeting.
This time, TM K.H. introduced a new trial application that can simultaneously track the speaking time and count filler words such as “ah” and “um.”
We were impressed by the accuracy of this tool, which automatically measures both timing and filler word usage.
It is expected to become a valuable support tool for reducing the workload of double roles and triple roles in future meetings.
Once again, it was a meeting full of learning, smiles, and meaningful interactions.
