【今週の一枚】＼写真で味わう✨慶應義塾の谷口建築／

慶應義塾大学アート・センターでは、展覧会「アート・アーカイヴ資料展XXIX：慶應義塾の谷口吉生　交差するまなざし」 を開催中です。
写真家・新良太撮影の建築写真で谷口吉生の建築を味わう新シリーズが、今週からスタートします！

今回紹介するのは、慶應義塾幼稚舎 新館21（2002年竣工）の外観。
父・谷口吉郎が手掛けた幼稚舎本館と連なる本校舎は、きわめて端正なプロポーションと表面で仕上げられています。父によるモダニズム建築とモニュメンタルな建築という環境を尊重した谷口は、その景観を損なわないよう、可能な限り抑制的な建築を求めたのです。

幼稚舎本館の窓からのぞむ構図は、まさに親子の交差するまなざしを表現しています。

Tomorrow! Keio University 2026 Freshman Welcome Event

As part of the 2026 Keio University Freshman Welcome events, we are pleased to present a post-butoh performance by Akira Kasai. This marks Kasai’s sixth appearance in Keio’s welcome program, following previous performances in 2010, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2024.

Born in Mie Prefecture in 1943, Kasai developed his unique artistic voice through encounters with Kazuo Ohno and Tatsumi Hijikata - butoh’s leading figures.

In this performance, Kasai takes on Beethoven’s late masterpiece, Piano Sonata No. 32, presenting through his distinctive choreographic vision. We invite you to experience this extraordinary work. (KB)

「アート・アーカイヴ資料展XXIX：慶應義塾の谷口吉生　交差するまなざし 」は、7月24日まで開催中です。会場では、谷口吉生による慶應義塾の建築を写真や模型とともに紹介。静かで洗練された空間づくり、そして細部まで美しい谷口建築の魅力に触れられる展示です。

建築家の谷口吉生は慶應義塾のキャンパスにおいて、他者の建築との共鳴のもとで新たな環境を生み出しました。幼稚舎では父・吉郎が手がけた本館に新体育館と新館21を接続し、湘南藤沢キャンパスでは盟友・槇文彦による大学キャンパス外郭に設置する中等部・高等部校舎を設計しています。本展では建築物を取り巻く環境を活かした設計を行う谷口吉生が、建築を通して先達とどのような対話を重ねたのかを探ります。（KB）

Yoshio Taniguchi exhibition is now open! Art Archive Exhibition XXIX Yoshio Taniguchi in Keio: Intersecting Architectural Perspectives

This exhibition introduces architecture of Keio University designed by Yoshio Taniguchi. Through archival photographs and scale model, visitors can discover the distinctive qualities of Taniguchi’s architecture. Don’t miss the chance to see it!

Architect Yoshio Taniguchi (1937–2024) created new environments for Keio University in resonant dialogue with the architecture of others. At Keio Yochisha Elementary School, Taniguchi provided the New Yochisha Gymnasium and the New Wing “Shinkan 21,”establishing a direct connection to the Main Building designed by his father, Yoshiro Taniguchi (1904–1979). He was also responsible for the Keio Shonan Fujisawa Junior and Senior High School buildings, which stand beside the Keio Shonan Fujisawa (SFC) campus designed by his longtime friend Fumihiko Maki (1928–2024). Taniguchi strived to craft structures that speak to their context. This exhibition will explore how his architectural legacy at Keio converses with the work of the modernist masters who shaped the university before him.（KB）
