𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀: all three Coding Lab teams passed the preliminary round of the 2026 Minecraft Cup! 🎉
𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽—𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀!
Congratulations to all the students who helped design, build, and code the Minecraft Cup worlds this year.
We had a great time working all summer with Coding Lab students from Singapore and Japan. This year, students were asked: “what kind of city should a child born today grow up in?”
Students worked together to research, design, and build a 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀—not just a shinier version of today’s world, but a real rethink for a generation growing up with aging populations, AI everywhere, and a changing climate.
🏙️ 𝗦𝗸𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝟱.𝟬
𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺: Coding Lab Mega Coders (ages 7–12)
A future sky city powered by technology and love where all people are safe, connected, happy, and equal. Students imagined a vertical city with nature, floating islands, renewable energy, farming, skyscrapers and a Space City—and used code to help make almost every part.
🌎 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗻
𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺: Coding Lab Generational Builders (ages 13–18)
A sustainable “Town of the Future for Generation β,” combining forests, mountains, rivers and ocean coastlines with modern infrastructure. Students used code to construct roads, buildings, solar panels, batteries and power plants.
Their motto: 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺.
🌳 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗼𝗻
𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺: Control Crafters
A city for every generation, where younger and elderly citizens thrive side by side. Students used Redstone and MakeCode for large-scale projects and designed an eco-tourism and sustainability zone featuring landmark Super Trees.
🛠️ Coding Lab Singapore and Japan students met weekly this summer to plan, build, code, and collaborate.
