■President’s Remarks by President Aoyanagi
The funds from the Niko Niko Box are used to support service activities. Specifically, this includes initiatives such as MMM, medical assistance for maternal and child health in Zambia, and support for Yoneyama scholars, Rotary Foundation scholars and CIS Interact club activities. Starting this Rotary year, online donations to the Niko Niko Box have also become available. We greatly appreciate your cooperation with your message.
■Secretary’s Report by Secretary Takiya
• On behalf of Committee Chair Kohei Ogaki, I will present this year’s Activity Plan for the Yoneyama Memorial Scholarship Committee. As the host club for Ms. Rebecca LeVeque, our committee will support her and create opportunities to promote interaction between the scholar and our members, thereby fostering a deeper understanding of and appreciation for the Yoneyama Scholarship Program. We will also set a contribution goal of ¥10,000 per member for regular donations and ¥10,000 for special donations. During the October Enhancement Month, we will invite the scholar to give a speech.
• A notice from the World Polio Day Executive Committee: World Polio Day will be held at Tokyo Tower on Saturday, October 17th 2026, from 11:00 to 16:00. Details and registration information will be provided around August.

Mio Kojima

From Charity to Building the Future Together: How Children and Communities in Africa Are Creating Hope
After graduating from International Christian University in 2006, Mio Kojima joined PLAS as a volunteer and spent three months in Uganda supporting a school project for children orphaned by AIDS. She later worked at J.P. Morgan Securities Japan while continuing to volunteer with PLAS. In 2010, she joined PLAS as a staff member and now serves as Executive Director and Board Member. She was selected as a 2016 Fellow of the Japanese Women’s Leadership Initiative, a program of the Fish Family Foundation. She is also the mother of two sons.
