世界的な審判技術の向上を目的として、南アジア・中東・南米の各地区から、ルビンダ師範（スリランカ）、ビビン師範（UAE）、ミランダ師範（ボリビア）の3名を日本に招へいし、世界最大級のフルコンタクト空手イベント「カラテドリームフェスティバル2026国際大会」において審判研修を実施した。

3名は大会を通じて約100試合の審判を担当。スピード感あふれる少年選手の攻防に加え、中高生の試合では技の力強さと重厚感も増し、より一層、的確な優劣判定が求められる接戦が続いた。そうした実戦の場で数多くの判定を経験することにより、審判技術のさらなる向上を図る貴重な機会となった。

来年開催される第14回全世界空手道選手権大会では、世界最高峰の戦いにふさわしい、より高いレベルの審判技術が求められる。今回研修に参加した3名には、その成果を各地区へ還元すべく、今後それぞれの地区において積極的に審判研修会を開催し、審判員の育成と技術向上に取り組んでいくことが期待される。

また今回の研修には、2025年より本部管轄となったブラジルから西村勇師範も選抜され、3名とともに精力的に研修に取り組んだ。

As part of an initiative to raise refereeing standards worldwide, Shihan Ruvinda from Sri Lanka, representing South Asia, Shihan Vivin from the UAE, representing the Middle East, and Shihan Miranda from Bolivia, representing South America, were invited to Japan to participate in an international referee training program at the Karate Dream Festival 2026 International Championship, the world’s largest fullcontact karate events.

Throughout the tournament, the three referees officiated approximately 100 matches. The junior divisions featured fast-paced and dynamic exchanges, while the matches among the teenage competitors combined speed with greater power and intensity, often making it extremely difficult to determine the winner. Officiating such a large number of closely contested matches provided the referees with valuable practical experience and an important opportunity to further develop their skills and judgment.

With the 14th World Open Karate Championship scheduled for next year, an exceptionally high standard of refereeing will be required for the highest level of competition in the world. As a result of this training program, the three Shihan are expected to share the knowledge and experience gained in Japan by actively organizing referee seminars in their respective regions, thereby contributing to the development of referees and the improvement of officiating standards worldwide.

Shihan Issami Nishimura from Brazil, which has been under the direct supervision of WKO Headquarters since 2025, was also selected to participate in the program and took part in the intensive training alongside the three regional representatives.
