EBA Faculty Meeting 2023: November 23-24, 2023

28 EBA faculty members from 17 universities and institutions gathered last week at the first EBA Faculty Meeting at Keio University Japan. They discussed curriculum design, operational schemes, and community building of the EBA Project moving forward. All participating faculty members committed to working together to design educational programs for social resilience in the Asia Pacific region.

EBA Hokkaido Fieldwork 2023 (October 17 - 26)

EBA Project conducted a fieldwork program in Hokkaido, Japan, hosted by Keio University, in collaboration with Keio Museum Commons (KeMCo).

18 participants, including faculty members from Cambodia (ITC), Indonesia (UB, UNHAS, ITB, USK, UNESCO Jakarta), Malaysia (UM, USM), Nepal (IOE-TU), Vietnam (HUST), and Japan (KEIO) visited Hokkaido to collect evidence of Indigenous communities’ traditions and rights, investigate the pressing environmental challenges facing the region, and explore the social aspects crucial for diversity and inclusion.

A big "otsukaresama" to all participants of the EBA fieldwork programs held this summer. On September 27, during the AI3 and SOI Asia monthly seminar, students shared the outcomes and reflections on their experiences in Minamata, Japan, and the suburbs of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Led by Keio University, the EBA Minamata program looked at the potential of ICT to support the revitalization of areas affected by human-made disasters. The EBA fieldwork program led by the University of Malaya focused on the impact measurement of urbanization on water quality and ecological systems.

Kumamoto 2023 – EBA Website

EBA Kumamoto Fieldwork 2023, Feb 20- Mar-1, 2023, hosted by Keio university.

This time 12 participants from the following EBA member universities (*1) and 5 staff from Keio university gathered in Kumamoto city and Minamata city to collect evidence of what residents/community/local government experienced natural/man-made disasters, and how they have been tackling to create disaster resilient society.
After evidence collection, moved to Tokyo (Keio University), and started to create final outcomes together with a teammate.

Participants will share their outcomes in the final presentation, which will be happened from 18:15 (UTC+9), 29 March, in SOI Asia ONLINE monthly seminar.

EBAプロジェクトは、日本(慶應義塾大学)とアジア・太平洋地域にある大学等で構成された、教育協力プロジェクトです。2022年4月より本格再始動しました！

今回、EBAでは記念すべき初回Fieldworkショートプログラムへの参加者を大募集中です。(今回は慶應生のみが参加します。)

このプログラムでは、所属する学部では出会えない、塾内の様々な学部から集まった仲間と共に、EBAを用いながら、学際的・多角的に課題の根源を明らかにし、その解決方法を仲間と共に考えます。

今回のテーマは、日本の郊外に在住するブラジル人青少年の生活やキャリアを調査し、日本国内のグローバル化や移民の現状を調査し、包摂的で持続可能な社会について、共に考えます。
