Kohaku World English アメリカから来たアンバー先生です！誰でも安心して、エンジョイできる?

アメリカのミネソタ州から来たブネル・アンバーです。5年間徳島県に住んでいます。アメリカと日本の学校でも教えた事があります。そして3歳から90歳までの生徒に教えた経験もあります！

3年間美馬市の小中学校でALTとして英語を教えていました。徳島での生活は、毎日楽しくて、生徒が大好きでした！毎日仕事に行くのが楽しかったです。でも時々生徒に聞かれた文法や単語についての質問に答えられませんでした。ネイティブだというだけで英語を上手に教えられるわけではないと気づきました。むしろ、ネイティブだからこそ英語の文法や発音についてあまり考えたことがありませんでした。生徒に上手に英語を教えるために、本格的に言語学と教育を勉強したいと決めました。

より良い先生になるために、大学院に入ることにしました。ミネソタ州立University of Minnesota で第二言語教育を勉強しながら、英語と日本語の教員免

許をとりました。卒業した後は、英語教師としてアメリカの小学校で移民の子どもに教えていました。

日本人と結婚していますので、日常生活では日本語を使っています。なので外国語で話す時の大変さや不安、または楽しさや達成感もよく分かります。自分が12年間日本語を勉強していますので、外国語を学ぶアドバイスができます。自分の経験を活かして、誰でも安心して英語を学べる教室を作っていきます。

「英語は一生使わない」とか「私は海外旅行行かない」と思っている人もいるかもしれませんが、自分の人生に何がおこるか予想できません。外国語を学ぶと、世界が広がります。できる仕事が増えます。住める場所が増えます。そして、関わる人を増やすこともできます。18歳の私が、大学で日本語の授業を受けなかったら、夫に出会えなかったと思います。外国語を学んで、後悔することは絶対にないです。

It’s summer! That means it’s time for summer vegetables 🍅 🌽 🥒 🍆 🌼

Who knew the inside of a volcano was blue?

We traveled Kyushu in March, and while I have to thank the volcanoes for the excellent onsen, I can’t say I wasn’t a little scared at the same time 🌋♨️

Having two cultures means having twice the celebrations! I remember giving a presentation in Japanese class about ひな祭り; I never thought my own future child would have a set of ひな人形. But here we are, and wow, does she love her new friends in the living room!

We took our daughter camping for the first time this month! It was wonderful to relax surrounded by the beautiful autumn mountains. She loved running around on the grass and picking up fallen leaves. And she only woke up once at night in the tent! (At 3am of course 😅)

Japanese summer is so hot and winter gets so cold at night - but now is the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors! I hope we have the chance to spend a lot of time in nature this fall as a family. I hope you do too!
