Cooking with the alternative class!
オルタナティブクラスでのクッキング！
As the school year came to a close and we wrapped up our Thailand curriculum, we felt there was no better way to celebrate than by preparing some delicious Thai food together. We decided to make “Khanom Krok,” a traditional Thai-style coconut pancake. These delightful bite-sized street food treats are loved throughout Thailand.
学年度の終わりを迎え、タイのカリキュラムを締めくくるにあたり、皆で美味しいタイ料理を作ることが最良の締めくくりだと感じました。そこで私たちは、「カノムクロック」というタイの伝統的なココナッツパンケーキを作ることにしました。この一口サイズの可愛らしい屋台スイーツは、タイ全土で親しまれています。
First, we began by reviewing the recipe together, making sure the children understood the ingredients and each step of the process. We then practiced key vocabulary such as “whisk,” “mix,” and “pour.” Once everyone felt confident, it was time to start cooking!
まず最初に、レシピを一緒に確認し、どのような材料を使い、どのような手順で作るのかを子どもたちが理解できるようにしました。その後、「whisk（混ぜる）」「mix（混ぜ合わせる）」「pour（注ぐ）」といった重要な語彙を練習しました。全員が自信を持てるようになったところで、いよいよ調理の開始です！
The students had a wonderful time practicing their English while getting hands-on with making the batter. Once it was ready, we moved on to cooking. This tasty treat can be made using a takoyaki grill, so each student took turns pouring the batter into the molds. Before long, they were ready to enjoy!
生徒たちは、生地作りで手を動かしながら英語を実践することを大いに楽しんでいました。生地が完成すると、いよいよ焼く工程へと進みます。このお菓子はたこ焼き器で調理することができるため、生徒一人ひとりが順番に生地を流し入れました。やがて焼き上がり、美味しくいただく準備が整いました。
We ended the class by reflecting on the past school year together, chatting and sharing memories while enjoying the treats we had made.
最後は、この一年を振り返りながら、皆で会話を楽しみ、自分たちで作ったお菓子を味わいながら和やかな時間を過ごしました。
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our students and their parents for such a wonderful year. Now that April has arrived, I look forward to another fantastic school year with everyone.
