EP3: 📍Lao New Year Celebration 2026 – Kansai, Japan

The Lao Students’ Association in the Kansai area successfully organized the Lao New Year (Pimai Lao) Celebration 2026 on 26 April 2026 at Kyoto.

This special event brought together distinguished guests, partners, Lao students, and friends from Japan and the international community to celebrate one of the most important cultural traditions of Laos.

The program featured traditional ceremonies, including the Baci ceremony and water blessing ritual, as well as cultural performances, music, and a variety of Lao and Japanese cuisine. The event provided a meaningful opportunity to promote Lao culture, strengthen unity among Lao students, and enhance friendship and mutual understanding between Laos and Japan.

ເກັບພາບບັນຍາກາດ ງານສະເຫຼີມສະຫຼອງບຸນປີໃໝ່ລາວ ຂອງ ສະມາຄົມນັກສຶກສາລາວເຂດຄັນໄຊ ປະຈຳປີ 2026, ຊຶ່ງໄດ້ຈັດຂຶ້ນໃນວັນທີ 26 ເມສາ 2026 ທີ່ຜ່ານມາ ຢູ່ ນະຄອນກຽວໂຕ, ປະເທດຍີ່ປຸ່ນ.

Capturing the vibrant moments of the 2026 Lao New Year Celebration (Boun Pi Mai Lao).

Organized by the Lao Students Association in Kansai and the Lao-Kansai Friendship Association, the event took place on April 26, 2026, in Kyoto, Japan.

The event was filled with a warm atmosphere of friendship, hospitality, and solidarity, bringing together Lao students, the Lao community, Japanese friends, and international students in a vibrant and joyful gathering. The celebration beautifully showcased the essence of Lao culture through traditional performing arts, the sacred Baci ceremony, and the symbolic water-blessing ritual. Guests also enjoyed a delicious variety of authentic Lao and Japanese cuisine, all of which served to promote and preserve our cherished cultural heritage.

ໃນວັນເສົາ, ວັນທີ 14 ມີນາ 2026 ທີ່ຜ່ານມາ, ຄະນະນັກສຶກສາລາວເຂດຄັນໄຊ ໄດ້ຈັດກິດຈະກຳທັດສະນະສຶກສາ ແລະ ຢ້ຽມຊົມ 2 ມະຫາວິທະຍາໄລຊັ້ນນຳຂອງປະເທດຍີ່ປຸ່ນ ຄື: ມະຫາວິທະຍາໄລໂດຊີຊະ Doshisha University) ແລະ ມະຫາວິທະຍາໄລກຽວໂຕ (Kyoto University).

On the evening of March 7, 2026, representatives of the Lao Student Association, together with relevant coordinators, held a meeting with the Lao–Kansai Friendship Association and the Honorary Consul of the Lao in Kyoto. The meeting aimed to discuss and exchange views on the preparation and organization of the Lao New Year (Pi Mai Lao) Celebration 2026, which is scheduled to be held in April in Kyoto, Japan.

The discussion was conducted in a constructive and cordial atmosphere and concluded successfully. On this occasion, the Lao Student Association also received continued support and valuable cooperation from the Lao–Kansai Friendship Association and the Honorary Consul of the Lao in Kyoto.

This collaboration not only contributes to the preparation of the upcoming celebration but also represents an important step in preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the Lao people, while further strengthening cultural exchange and mutual understanding within the international community in Japan.
