🙋‍♀️ Day 1 — Who Am I?

Summer School kicked off this week! The theme for Week 1 is “Community”.

On the first day yesterday, activities centered around the foundation of community — getting to know yourself.
In the morning, the children worked on creating their “All About Me” booklets. They filled in their name, age, favorite color, and favorite food, and then introduced themselves to the group.

As a lead-in to the days ahead, the children also deepened their understanding of the facilities in and around the school. 🏫

Engaging with new teachers and friends for the first time is no easy feat, but by the afternoon, the children were speaking freely and taking on activities with confidence.

Let’s keep learning and having fun together tomorrow!🌱

🐠School Trip to Tokyo Sea Life Park

Our K4 and K3 friends had an amazing time exploring Tokyo Sea Life Park in Kasai! 🐧

From the Seas of the World to the Tuna Aqua Theater, Sharks – The Big Tank, Tokyo's Sea, and the adorable Penguin Exhibit — there was so much to discover.

The children listened so attentively and were full of curiosity, soaking up so much about the amazing creatures and their habitats. A wonderful day of learning and exploration for everyone! ⭐️

📖 Learning Stories #3 | Words Open a Path to Learning
　
✏️ Alphabet cards, three-letter words, and four-year-old voices sounding out every letter with focus and delight.
What looks like a classroom game holds so much more — phonological awareness, early literacy, and the quiet confidence of "I can read that."

At GLIS, every activity is intentionally designed to connect to our curriculum. Play is never just play.

Today is Tanabata.🎋
Through a story about Tanabata and conversations with their teacher, the children learned about this traditional Japanese festival and got to experience the custom of making wishes.

For their project activity, the children decorated plastic cups using stickers and string.

They also drew or wrote their wishes on tanzaku strips, shared them with their friends, and displayed them as part of their creations.

May all their wishes come true…💫

🎒Today, the K3 and K4 classes enjoyed a picnic together!

The children played energetically in the open area with games like Handkerchief Drop and Red Light, Green Light.

As there was a light drizzle, everyone had lunch together in the school hall.

This first combined activity between the two classes was both fun and full of learning for the children.🌱

Colorful beads, a string, and two-year-old hands full of focus and determination.

What looks like simple play holds so much learning — fine motor skills, concentration, color and shape awareness, and the quiet pride of "I did it myself."

Each week, children explore one of three themes: "Community," "Nature," and "Story". 🔍️

Through hands-on experiences both inside and outside the classroom — observing, touching, and feeling — children express their discoveries in English, nurturing their curiosity, critical thinking, and language skills.
