UIA Goes Around the World

During Around the World Week 1 Summer School, our students explored global diversity through engaging classroom activities and an exciting educational field trip.

A highlight of the week was our visit to the Small Worlds Miniature Museum, where students marveled at intricate displays of international cities, transportation networks, space exploration, and everyday life. These exhibits sparked curiosity and encouraged students to appreciate the diversity of people, places, and cultures around the world.

As we wrap up an exciting Week 1, we look forward to continuing our global journey in Week 2 with more hands-on learning, cultural discoveries, and memorable experiences.

UIA conquers the wilderness in Hakuba

At UIA International School of Tokyo, learning extends far beyond the four walls of the classroom. As part of our annual Week Without Walls (WWW) program, students embarked on an unforgettable outdoor adventure at the Evergreen Outdoor Center in Hakuba, where they challenged themselves, explored nature, and developed valuable life skills through hands-on experiences.

Nestled in the breathtaking Japanese Alps, Hakuba provided the perfect setting for students to step outside their comfort zones and embrace the spirit of adventure. Throughout the program, students participated in a variety of exciting outdoor activities designed to promote teamwork, resilience, communication, and leadership. Guided by experienced instructors from the Evergreen Outdoor Center, they worked together to overcome challenges, build confidence, and strengthen friendships in a supportive and inspiring environment.

The Week Without Walls program is an essential part of the educational experience at UIA International School of Tokyo. It reflects our commitment to providing meaningful experiential learning opportunities that complement academic studies. By engaging with the natural environment, students gain a deeper appreciation for the world around them while developing essential character traits such as perseverance, responsibility, and collaboration.

Inspiring Futures at the University of Tsukuba!

We believe that the best way to prepare students for university is to let them experience it firsthand.
As part of our University Guidance Programme, our incoming Grade 11 and 12 students visited the University of Tsukuba, where they stepped into the life of a university student for a day. From exploring the campus and interacting with current international students to learning about academic opportunities, the visit gave students a realistic glimpse into what university life is truly like.

The day began with an inspiring University Overview Session by Professor Nomura, followed by an interactive Q&A session with international students, where our students asked questions about academics, campus life, and studying in Japan from those who are living the experience every day.

One of the highlights of the visit was a tour of the Center for Computational Sciences (CCS). Students explored one of Japan’s leading research facilities and saw the remarkable Pegasus Big Memory Supercomputer, gaining insight into how advanced computing powers groundbreaking research across a wide range of disciplines.

We hope these experiences help our HS students to make informed decisions, broaden their aspirations, and take their next steps toward higher education with confidence.

I can’t be seen, but fill the air. What am I?

The discovery of naturally ignited gas between 6000–2000 BCE eventually led to its contemporary applications in powering vehicles, culinary preparation, and supporting numerous daily necessities. During a visit to the gas science museum in Tokyo, our Early Years students investigated the intriguing domain of gas and its various practical applications in daily life.

The purpose of the visit was to spark curiosity, inspire imagination, and broaden students’ understanding of how science and energy play an essential role in the world around us.

Practice leads to confidence, and before long, it becomes as natural as riding a bike.

Our Early Years students embraced the challenge with grit, determination, and finesse, proudly overcoming every obstacle along the way. As they glide with joy, their confidence continues to grow alongside their coordination and balance, helping them develop an exciting new skill that will stay with them for years to come.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Vitamin i for their support and for giving our students the opportunity to experience such a liberating and confidence-building skill at such an early age.
