ドキドキ・ワクワクの入園式から新年度がスタートし、子どもたちは毎日、新しいお友だちと楽しく過ごしています✨

ユニットごとの課外学習として、幼稚園部のみんなで近くの公園へお出かけしました。公園へ行く途中には大きな道路があるため、事前にクラスで横断歩道の渡り方や交通ルールをしっかり学習しました🚥

初めてのK1（年少）さんは少し不安そうな様子も見られましたが、K2（年中）・K3（年長）のお兄さんお姉さんたちが「大丈夫だよ」「一緒に手をつなごうね」と優しく声をかけてくれ、とても頼もしい姿が見られました😊

公園ではみんなでピクニックを楽しみ、たくさん走り回り、園庭にはない遊具にも大興奮！思いきり体を動かし、笑顔いっぱいの時間となりました✨

また道中では、ご近所の皆さまに温かく声をかけていただき、地域の方々に見守られながら安全に活動することができました。

Hello from Sakura International School Himeji Campus🌸

The new school year has started with excitement following our entrance ceremony, and the children are happily spending each day making new friends. ✨

For our unit-based field trip, the kindergarten students went to a nearby park. Since we needed to cross a large road on the way, the children first learned about traffic rules and how to safely use a crosswalk in class. 🚥

For our K1 students, it was their first time going on a field trip, and some seemed a little nervous. However, the K2 and K3 students kindly reassured them by saying things like, “It’s okay” and “Let’s hold hands,” showing how caring and dependable they are. 😊

At the park, everyone enjoyed a picnic, ran around, and got very excited about playing on equipment not available in the schoolyard! It was a joyful time full of smiles and active play ✨

Along the way, members of the local community warmly greeted us, and the children were able to enjoy learning activities safely thanks to their support.

今回は、関西国際学園 初等部 教頭の石川紘子先生のインタビューをご紹介します。
石川先生は、東大阪に初等部があった2011年に入社されました。

神戸校への移転、国際バカロレア（IB）PYPの認定、そしてCIS認定への道のりなど、学園の発展を最前線で支え続けてくださった先生の一人です。

長年子どもたちと真摯に向き合ってきた石川先生が、教育者としていま最も大切にしていること。

それは、子どもたちが何を学び、何を感じているかをよく観察し、耳を傾けることです。

子どもたちには自ら成長していく力があり、その力を持っていることを信じています。

「相手の視点に立つには、まず自分自身が満たされていることが大切」

そう語る先生の言葉からは、子どもたち一人ひとりの心の揺れ動きを丁寧にすくい取ろうとする、温かい眼差しが伝わってきます。

At Kansai International Academy and Sakura International School, our dedicated teachers exemplify our school philosophy “Do Everything for the Children”.

Here is an interview of Ms. Ishikawa, Vice Principal of Kansai International Academy Kobe Campus Elementary School.
She began working for KIA in 2011, when our elementary school campus was located in Higashi-Osaka.

She is one of the many dedicated teachers who have shaped KIA over the years. She always led the way, whether it was changing the location to Kobe or becoming an IB (International Baccalaureate) PYP (Primary Years Programme) and CIS (Council of International Schools)-authorized school..
What does she always keep in mind as an educator with years of teaching?

It is to carefully observe what the students are thinking and learning. She believes that students have the ability to grow independently.
She also discusses how difficult it may be for some students to step inside someone else’s shoes unless they feel fulfilled inside themselves.

From those words, you can easily picture her paying close attention to her students as she watches over them.
She has played an important role in building KIA over the years and she continues to consistently show up for her students. Please read this interview and take a closer look inside her mind.

4月9日・10日の2日間、中高等部の生徒たちは毎年恒例のイニシエーションキャンプに参加しました。

新しく加わったG7（中学1年生）の生徒を歓迎し、新年度を前向きで活気ある形でスタートするため、チームビルディング活動に取り組みました。

今年は、国立淡路青少年交流の家を訪れ、これまでとは一味違った雰囲気のキャンプとなりました。

海に近いロケーションは素晴らしい景観を提供してくれ、あいにくの天候にもかかわらず、生徒たちはこの環境を大いに楽しんでいました。

3年目を迎えたこのイニシエーションキャンプは、新しい中高等部コミュニティのメンバーを迎えるだけでなく、G11・G12（高校2年生・3年生）の生徒たちにとってはリーダーシップやマネジメントスキルを発揮する貴重な機会でもあります。

彼らは、キャンプ全体の企画・運営・進行を担い、優れたコミュニケーション能力や後輩の安全と成長に責任を持つ姿勢を示しました。

その姿は、関西国際学園の価値観を体現し、常に成熟した誠実な行動として表れていました。
全体として、このキャンプは素晴らしい経験となり、多くの思い出を生み出しました。
来年のキャンプも今から楽しみです。

On April 9th and 10th, the KIA Secondary students embarked upon their annual Initiation Camp. Over two days, our students engaged in team building activities, in order to welcome the new G7s and usher in the new school year in a positive and exciting way.

This year, we had the pleasure of visiting National Awaji Youth Friendship Centre, giving the camp a very different feel to the previous years. The close proximity to the beach provided a wonderful backdrop to the camp, and despite the inclement weather, the students enjoyed the camp location immensely.

Now in its third year, the Initiation Camp not only welcomes our new secondary community members, but also provides our G11 and G12 students with a chance to demonstrate their leadership and management skills. They organise, plan and direct the entire camp, showcasing their growing capacity for strong communication and the ability to take responsibility for the wellbeing of their juniors. They truly showed the values of KIA and acted with maturity and integrity at all times.

Overall, the camp was a great experience, providing wonderful memories. We eagerly anticipate next year’s camp.

校長からの挨拶では、大切な約束が伝えられました。
「学校は、できなくてもいいからチャレンジする場所。
困ったときは先生たちが必ず皆さんを助けます。
失敗してもいい、やってみることが大切」

初等部での6年間は、たくさんの「はじめて」にぶつかりながら、試行錯誤を繰り返していく時間です。そのすべての経験が、お子さまの「生きる力」を育てていきます。
教職員一同、学校が子どもたちが安心してチャレンジできる場所になるよう努めてまいります。

We held our entrance ceremony under perfect weather yesterday.

The new G1 entered the ceremony while holding hands with the G6.
The G6 students walked gently, guiding the G1 students who were slightly nervous.
The G1 students have taken a foot forward and are now a part of a new community.

They were welcomed into the ceremony by the violin performance from the current KIA Elementary School students.
All of those years of learning at the music school culminated in a colorful performance at the ceremony.

Our head of school asked the students to keep an important promise.
“School is a place to challenge yourself. If you need help, teachers will support you. It’s okay to fail. The important thing is to try.”

During the six years at KIA Elementary School, students will come across many experiences for the first time. All of these experiences will help students cultivate essential life skills.
Teachers and staff will work together to ensure that students feel safe seeking new challenges.

4月2日は、関東・関西それぞれのスタッフが一か所に集まり、学びを深める一日となりました。

今回の研修では、社是を通してスタッフに何ができるかを考える時間、学園長による講義、探究学習の深め方、学年ごとの座談会、授業計画の共有など、さまざまなテーマについて学びました。
また、インプットにとどまらず、キャンパスの垣根を越えてスタッフ同士が交流し、意見交換できたことも、とても有意義な時間となりました。

さらに今回は、『だから僕たちは、組織を変えていける』などの著書でも知られる斉藤徹さんをお迎えし、「働く意味」や「働きがい」について、改めて考える機会をいただきました。

講演の中では、「なぜこの仕事をするのか」という原点に立ち返る問いが数多く投げかけられ、スタッフ一人ひとりが、日々の仕事の先にいる子どもたちの存在や、自分自身が大切にしたい想いを見つめ直す、深い時間になったように感じます。

社是のひとつである「すべては子どもたちのために」という同じ目的を持つ仲間が集まるエネルギーはとても熱く、言葉では表しきれないものがありました。
一人ひとりの真剣なまなざしや、向上心を持って学ぶことを楽しむ姿から、これから始まる新年度への大きな期待とわくわくを感じました。

研修はまだまだ続きます。今週の学びや新たに身につけたスキルを、来週から始まる新学期の実践へと、しっかりつなげていきたいと思います。

On April 2, Kanto and Kansai staff had our training sessions together to deepen our learning.

The training session was fruitful. We discussed how we can achieve our corporate motto, Ms Nakamura's lecture, how we can further develop deep learning, grade-level roundtables and sharing lesson plans.
The session included not simply absorbing information but also interactions between staff and exchanging ideas.

We invited Toru Saito, who has written a book on how to change an organization, to give a lecture about what it means to work and the meaning of work.

During his lecture, he encouraged us to reflect on why we work. It was an important opportunity for all staff to appreciate the students and reflect on our values. It was an enlightening session.

Everyone in the room embodied the company's motto, “Do Everything for the Children'. The passionate energy in the room was difficult to put into words.
We could feel the anticipation and excitement for the beginning of the new school year from everyone’s eagerness to learn with joy.

The training sessions will continue. We will take the new knowledge and skills that we acquired during the training and implement them during the new term starting next week.

3月7日に神戸キワニスキークラブ・ビルダークラブ(KKBC)に所属する関西国際学園の生徒5人でドナルド・マクドナルド・ハウス神戸のミールプログラムに参加しました。ミールプログラムとは病気の子どもに付き添うご家族に、ボランティアがハウス内で手作りの温かい食事を提供する支援活動のことです。

昨年の12月に続き、ドナルド・マクドナルド・ハウス神戸での支援活動は2度目となり、学年を超えて協力し合い、約30人分の食事を提供することができました。

それぞれ担当食材を用意し、当日は千切りキャベツとトマトの付け合わせ、生姜焼き、ゆかりおにぎりを作りました。野菜・お肉・おにぎりとそれぞれ役割を分担したことで、円滑に料理を進めることができました。

付き添いで慌ただしい日々を送るご家族にとって、ゆっくりと食事を準備する時間はなかなか取れないと聞いています。そうした方々に少しでもほっとできる時間をお届けできればと、今回も心を込めて調理しました。

ミールプログラム以外にも施設の中を見学させていただいたり、他のボランティア経験についてお話を伺い、より広い視点から支援活動の在り方について考えるきっかけにもなりました。

このような活動を通じて、入院・付き添いで忙しいご家族にとって少しでもお力になれるよう、これからもこの活動を継続していきたいと思います。

On March 7th, students from KIA, members of the Kobe Kiwanis Key Club・Builders Club (KKBC), participated in the Meal Program at Ronald McDonald House Kobe. The meal program is a volunteer initiative where students prepare and serve home-cooked, warm meals for families staying near the hospital to take care of their children receiving treatments.

This was our second time volunteering at Ronald McDonald House Kobe, following our visit last December. Students from different grades collaborated really well and managed to prepare meals for around 30 people.

Each member brought their assigned ingredients, and on the day we made shogayaki (ginger pork), shredded cabbage and tomato as sides, and yukari rice balls. Splitting cooking duties between vegetables, meat, and rice balls allowed us to work together seamlessly and efficiently.

For families spending long hours at the hospital, finding their time to prepare meals isn’t easy. With that in mind, we put our hearts into every dish, hoping to bring them a small moment of comfort.

Beyond the Meal Program itself, we were also given an opportunity to tour through the facility and to know about other types of volunteer experiences, which gave us a broader perspective on different ways we can contribute to support our local community, including Ronald McDonald House Kobe.

We hope to continue supporting families facing difficulties of staying at the hospital and taking care of their child by making a small difference or contributions through experiences like this one.

2月21日、本校では第6回となるG11（高校2年生）によるTOKエキシビジョンを開催しました。

TOK（Theory of Knowledge／知の理論）は、IBディプロマ・プログラム（DP）の必修科目の一つです。現代社会が抱える諸課題や身近な具体例を手がかりに、「知識とは何か」「私たちはどのように知るのか」といった根源的な問いを探究します。本学園のバイリンガル環境の中で、生徒たちは多様な言語・文化的視点を往還しながら、知識の性質とその形成プロセスを批判的に考察しています。

G11の生徒一人ひとりが自ら選んだ3つの事物を通して、私たちを取り巻く世界の中にTOKがどのように存在しているのかを分析し、個別プレゼンテーションを行いました。MPルームでは展示形式も取り入れ、ご来場の皆さまと対話を重ねることで、問いをさらに深める姿が見られました。発表は単なる成果報告にとどまらず、「知ること」に伴う前提・バイアス・限界に向き合う知的挑戦の場となりました。

下級生にとっては、DPで学ぶ先輩たちの姿を間近に見る貴重な機会となりました。高度な思考力や探究心に触れることで、自らの将来像や学びの在り方を具体的にイメージするきっかけにもなったことでしょう。同時に、知識をめぐる葛藤や複雑さ、そして多様な視点の重要性を実感する時間となりました。

関西国際学園はこれからも、言語の枠を越え、世界と対話できる思考力を育む学びを推進してまいります。

The G11 TOK Exhibition was held for the sixth time at Kansai International Academy on February 21.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK) is a mandatory subject in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP). In this core DP subject, students are tasked with answering fundamental questions such as “What is knowledge?” and “How do we know what we know?”. Students use real-life examples from our society and community to answer these questions. They also analyze problems from linguistic and cultural perspectives bilingually in order to think critically about the nature of knowledge and how it is formed.

The G11 students gave individual presentations based on the three objects they chose to analyze the presence of TOK in the world around us. The gallery format in the MP Room encouraged dialogue between the audience members and the presenter to deepen their understanding. Rather than a presentation of their conclusion, the exhibition was an intellectual exercise to challenge our assumptions, biases and limits about what it means to know something.

It was an important opportunity for our younger students, who are not yet DP students, to see what the DP students in the upper grades are learning up close. Seeing the high-level thinking skills and inquiry of their older peers helped them envision their own future learning and growth. At the same time, they learned the complexities and the contradictory nature of knowledge as well as the importance of using multiple perspectives to truly understand something.

At KIA, we will continue fostering critical thinking skills needed to engage with the world beyond the boundaries of language.

K3（年長）さんはみんなで、楽しみにしていたアイスクリームパーティーを開きました🍨

ひと口食べると、
「つめた〜い！」「おいしい！」と、あちこちから笑顔と笑い声が広がりました。

お友だちと顔を見合わせてにっこり😊
「いっしょに食べるともっとおいしいね！」

楽しい思い出を胸に、また一つ大きくなった年長さん。
みんなで過ごした時間は、きっとこれからも心の宝物です✨

Today was the last day of school. Although the sky was cloudy, the older children’s hearts were filled with excitement!
The K3 class held the ice cream party they had all been looking forward to.🍨

As soon as they took a bite,
smiles and laughter spread all around, with people exclaiming, “It’s sooo cold!” and “It’s delicious!”

They exchanged smiles with their friends.😊
“It tastes even better when we eat together!”

With happy memories in their hearts, the kindergarten graduates have grown up a little more.
The time we spent together will surely remain a treasure in their hearts forever ✨

さくらインターナショナルスクール文京校のK2（年中クラス）の学習についてご紹介します。

探究ユニット（UOI）では、教科を越えたテーマ「世界はどのような仕組みになっているのか」について深掘りしています。

「素材の性質や相互作用を理解することで、その活用方法が決まる」というセントラルアイデア（Central Idea）を通じ、子どもたちはさまざまな素材を調査しました。
実験を繰り返して特性を学び、日常生活で素材がどう選ばれているのかを話し合う姿が見られました。こうした実体験に基づいた学びは、教室での探究を身近な世界へと結びつける大切な機会となっています。

言語学習では、フォニックスと「トリッキー・ワード」のフェーズ3を修了し、多くの子どもたちが自信を持って音を組み合わせ、読んだり綴ったりできるようになっています。
聞き取る力や読解力も高まり、読んだ内容について自分の考えを話し、議論する力もついてきました。日々のライティング練習の積み重ねが、丁寧な文字の形成と書くことへの自信につながっています。

算数の学習では、時間の読み方をマスターし、実生活に即した数え方の問題を解いたり、体験を通して引き算の概念を学んだりしました。これらのスキルは、子どもたちが自ら論理的に考え、問題を解決していく力となっています。

学習面はもちろんですが、何より喜ばしいのは、子どもたちの精神的な成長です。
相手の話を注意深く聞き、責任を持ってルーティンをこなし、思慮深い質問を投げかけ、友だちと協力して活動できるようになりました。

困難に直面しても諦めない心や、新しいことに挑戦する姿勢は、年度当初からの大きな成長の証です。
K2を締めくくるにあたり、私たちは一人ひとりの素晴らしい歩みを心から讃えたいと思います。

自信に満ち、意欲あふれる子どもたちが、これからも「学びの旅」を続けていくことを楽しみにしています。皆さんの成果を誇りに思います。K3（年長クラス）でもさらに輝く姿を期待しています！

As we step towards the end of the school year, it is a proud and reflective time for the K2B community. What a journey this year has been! Our students have grown not only in size but also in confidence, independence, and their love for learning. As the school year draws to a close, K2B students are showing just how ready they are to take their next exciting step into K3.

Our current Unit of Inquiry, under the transdisciplinary theme “How the World Works,” has captured students’ curiosity and encouraged deep thinking. Through the central idea “Understanding the way materials behave and interact determines how people use them,” children have explored different materials, experimented with their properties, and discussed how materials are chosen for everyday purposes. These hands-on experiences have helped students make meaningful connections between the classroom and the world around them.

In language learning, K2B students have made remarkable progress. Having successfully completed Phase 3 phonics and Phase 3 tricky words, many children are confidently blending sounds for both reading and spelling. Listening and reading comprehension skills have strengthened, and students are increasingly able to understand, respond to, and discuss what they read. Regular handwriting practice has also supported clearer letter formation and greater writing confidence.

Mathematics learning has been equally exciting. Students have learned to read time, solve practical counting problems, and explore subtraction through hands-on and real-life contexts. These skills have helped them become more independent problem-solvers and logical thinkers.

Beyond academics, one of the most rewarding changes has been the students’ overall growth in maturity. They listen attentively, follow routines responsibly, ask thoughtful questions, and work cooperatively with their peers. Their resilience, curiosity, and willingness to try new challenges reflect how far they have come since the beginning of the year.

As we prepare to say goodbye to K2, we celebrate the incredible progress of our learners. K2B students are confident, capable, and eager to continue their learning journey. We are so proud of everything they have achieved and are excited to see them shine as they move on to K3.

What a wonderful year it has been — full of discovery, growth, and joyful learning!

2019年度から続く関西国際学園中高等部のデザインフェア。今年も2月21日に開催しました。

このイベントの目的は、生徒たちがDesign & Technologyの授業の中で培ってきたスキルや学びを統合し、自分たちのアイデアを現実世界で大胆に表現すること、
そしてその成果を保護者の皆さまや来場者の方々と共有することです。

今年のテーマは 「拡張（Expansion）」
生徒たちは、MYPで学んできた知識や技術をさらに発展させ、新たな挑戦に取り組みました。

・布地と縫製を学んだグループは、染色や絞り染めへと技術を拡張。
・照明器具を制作したグループでは、紙を透過した光の暖かさや、自由に変化させられるさまざまな色彩の光の効果を探究。
・G9/10（中学3年、高校1年生）の生徒たちは、PythonやLuaのプログラミングを応用し、実際にプレイできるビデオゲームを開発。

一人ひとりの創造性、問題解決力、そして個性が存分に発揮された一日となりました。

The Design Fair, a tradition at our school since 2019, was held again this year on February 21st.

The purpose of this event is for students to integrate the skills and knowledge they have developed in their Design & Technology classes and to boldly express their ideas in the real world. It is also an opportunity to share their learning and achievements with parents and visitors.

This year’s theme was “Expansion.” Students extended the knowledge and techniques they have learned in MYP Design and took on new challenges. For example:
One group that studied fabric and sewing, expanded their skills into dyeing and tie-dye techniques.
A group that created lighting fixtures explored the warmth of light transmitted through paper and investigated the effects of various colors that could be freely changed.
G9/10 students applied their knowledge of Python and Lua programming to develop fully playable video games.

It was a day in which each student’s creativity, problem-solving ability, and individuality were fully demonstrated.

本学園で今年初めて開催された Disaster Management Week は、自然災害の多い日本に暮らす人々の防災意識や防災対策の向上を目的とした取り組みです。期間中、日本各地でさまざまな関連イベントが実施されました。

関西国際学園では神戸キワニスキークラブのメンバーを中心に、1月19日から23日にかけて、防災をテーマとした多様な活動を行いました。

Disaster Management Week の初日となった月曜日は、キャンペーンを楽しみながら自然災害の知識を深めてもらうことを目的としました。
16種類の自然災害の画像を提示し、それぞれの名称を学年一体となって当ててもらう、エンタメ要素を交えたクイズを実施しました。

WHEN do we evacuate? - BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY

水曜日には、災害などの際に気象庁が発表する「警戒レベル」に関する正しい知識を身につけてもらうための取り組みを行いました。
政治機関による公式な情報をもとに、警戒レベル１〜５それぞれに対応する避難行動をクイズ形式で実施しました。

WHO to contact? - FAMILY COMMUNICATION PLAN

水曜日には、生徒の皆さんに、保護者の電話番号と自宅の住所を記入してもらいました。
災害時に家族と連絡が取れなくなった状況へも対応できるように、記入後にラミネートしたものを返却しました。

WHAT to prepare? - SCHOOL EMERGENCY KIT

木曜日には、各教室に常備してある防災バッグの中身を出し、それぞれがどのように・どのような意図で使われるものなのかを確認しました。
これは、避難時にどのようなものが必要になるのか、なぜ必要なのか、という認識を生徒自身に持たせることに成功しました。

WHERE to go? - MEETING POINTS

金曜日には、生徒に家の最寄り避難所の場所を調べてもらいました。
災害発生時に家族とどこで待ち合わせをするのか、家の最寄り避難所はどこか、学校の避難経路はどこか、などを知ってもらうことで、災害時によりスムーズに行動できるようになると考えました。
