A step back in time! Last Friday, G9 & 10 explored the Osaka Museum of Natural History in Nagai Park. The highlight? The enormous whale skeletons suspended over the entrance—almost as if they’re swimming through the air! Inside, we encountered the mighty Naumann elephant and dinosaur fossils unearthed in Osaka.

On February 18-20, Grade 10 DISK student Leaf participated in the Marist Model United Nations ###IX at Marist Brothers International School in Kobe. In a simulated United Nations setting, he took on the role of a delegate representing the United Arab Emirates, engaging in deliberations on global issues with delegates from international schools across Japan. The conference was a great opportunity for him to challenge himself and develop his communication, thinking, and social skills.

Doshisha International School, Kyoto’s 2026 Ski Trip to Yakebitaiyama, Shiga Kogen, Nagano (Feb 11-14) was a success, thank you, Mr. Lafferty! Clear blue skies and super conditions made for epic runs and unforgettable memories on and off the slopes. Here’s our group photo capturing the fun and energy of the trip!

This past weekend, students from DISK took part in the third annual Kansai Math Olympics, held at Marist Brothers International School in Kobe from April 18–19, 2025.

The KMO is a math competition that brings students together in the spirit of both competition and cooperation, featuring multiple rounds where participants compete individually and in teams (5 students per team).

We’re proud to share that Ryan received an Individual Excellence Award, and the team of Ryan, Jia, and Maia placed 3rd out of 6 teams! 🧠🏅

Congratulations to all DISK participants: Ryan, Miles, Maia, Jushin, Ryusei, and Jia — great teamwork and effort all around! 👏

On February 20-21 the DISK MUN Club participated in the Marist Model United Nations event in Kobe. Our delegates were engaged in deliberations on issues of global importance students from international schools across Japan. The conference provided a valuable opportunity for our students to challenge themselves and develop their communication, critical thinking, and social skills.

Congratulations to Jia, Maia, and Solana from Grades 10 and 11 who won Second Prize at the Tenth Doshisha Tateishi Cup English Presentation Contest – Senior High School Division last weekend. They presented on “How Can We Create a Sustainable Educational Environment for Children All Over the World?” Over the summer, they put in hard work, researching, creating their presentation, and practicing their communication skills. Well done!
