Every summer, Akita comes alive with thousands of lanterns, music, and generations of local traditions.

This is the Akita Kanto Festival.
A Kanto lantern can weigh around 50kg. 🏮

We joined Aomori Nebuta Festival (ねぶた祭り) - one of the biggest summer festivals in Japan.

Our school is located in the Tohoku region of Japan (Northern Japan), which means our students get to experience unique local traditions like the Aomori Nebuta Festival!!!

Another returning student!! 🥹💛

They first joined us in Summer 2025, and also came back for our Katana Camp this year!

They brought us the cutest gift. 🎁✨

The artwork is made on traditional Japanese washi paper and features a FamilyMart, Lawson, and even a Gundam-style illustration. It’s so unique and beautiful!

They said it reminded them of Kosaka, our little town with just one FamilyMart and one Lawson. 😂💚
