📍Mt. Takami, Nara
- Went out on a date with Takamisan 😂

Spent Valentine’s Day hiking Mt. Takami with friends. It was a beautiful day. The sky was clear, and we could see the beautiful scenery from the summit.

Mt. Takami is a famous mountain in Nara. We met lots of hikers along the way. The trail was busy.

Today’s hike was supposed to be an easy one, but my period came, so I was in pain throughout the hike. I thought we would take longer to finish because of my slow pace, but thankfully, we were still able to complete it in five hours as planned.

📍Mt. Kannon-mine, Nara

Went to Mt. Kannon-mine in Nara yesterday. We had the trail all to ourselves—we didn’t meet any hikers along the way.

The weather was a bit crazy. It was raining when we started hiking. Then it turned to sleet, then snow… and then it rained again.

Because of the weather, we thought about ending the hike at Kannondaira, but we changed our minds and continued all the way to the summit.

There’s no view at the summit, which is why most people just hike up to Kannondaira (where the observatory is) and then head back down. Sadly, the weather was gloomy and the beautiful view was nowhere to be seen. But we still had fun playing in the snow.

After the hike, we had a relaxing warm bath at Dorogawa Onsen, then enjoyed a hearty meal at a ramen shop famous for its “hakusai ramen.”

Mt. Zenbo - 251 m
Mt. Kasamatsu - 244 m

Found another alps in Hyogo (been to Suma Alps, Harima Alps, Ono Alps and Heisouko Alps).

Kasai Alps: rock scrambling, chains, ropes, suspension bridge… What a fun place!

The burger at Yamanekoya near Hokkeguchi station…
So nummy. A must-try.

📍Mt. Bunagatake (武奈ヶ岳), Shiga

Read an article about Mt. Bunagatake that says:
Climbing Mt. Buganatake is a challenging climb RESERVED FOR THE BRAVE, AVOIDED BY THE SANE.
Now, i know the reason why. 😅
First time going to Mt. Bunagatake. We started at Hira station. Walked to the trailhead. There are 2 routes to choose from: the longer easy route and the shorter difficult route.
We took the longer easy route going up. But it’s not really easy. It’s too steep. Took the shorter difficult route going down. It’s indeed difficult and dangerous too.
So glad, the weather’s fine today. We’re able to reach the summit and went back down without any problem. It was also a long hike, around 17km. Nice view of Lake Biwa and other mountains at the summit.

📍Oiwagatake, Hyogo

4 peaks
西大岩ヶ岳・大岩ヶ岳・東大岩ヶ岳・丸山

Decided to hike today with some friends. Two of them are not “hikers” but they joined us for the first time and they nailed today’s hike (11km, 5 hrs, moderate hike). Some parts are steep and a bit slippy. The heart-shaped pond looks pretty.
We started at Dojo station. Trailhead is near Senkari Dam.

📍Kitayokodake, Nagano

Went to Kitayokodake. The entire mountain is blanketed with snow. The trees look magical.

It’s pretty windy near the summit. Some parts of the trail is quite steep esp. the one nearing the summit (Had to use my poles here. The rest of trail I didn’t use my poles.) The path is a bit narrow so you would constantly stop and give way to the hikers going up or going down. Trail’s well-marked. Beginner hikers will definitely nail this mountain.

I also met this interesting hiker who’s wearing a ramen chef uniform. He even has a ramen. So cool!

📍Mt. Kuruma, Nagano

My first hike in 2026

Went to Kurumayama in Nagano. Short easy hike. Trail’s mostly flat. 0 challenge and danger. 😅
It’s cloudy and it’s snowing. We didn’t see a clear view of the scenery but it’s alright. A nice warm up before we head to Kita Yatsugatake.

📍Junglia Okinawa

First time riding a buggy. Did it twice. The second one, i did it solo (Fun Adventure Course). It’s an exhilarating experience esp. the Adrenaline Challenge Course.

Tried the Dinosaur Safari. We rode in a military jeep. The dinosaurs look so freaking real. I really enjoyed it. Shouting like a kid.

Rode the Tam Tam Tram to see the entire vicinity.

Danced during the water festival concert.

We tried joining the lottery for the Flying Phoenix and the Tree Top Trekking but we’re not chosen.
We tried buying a premium pass ticket but it’s already sold out on that day.

Though you have to wait in the line for an hour or two, it’s still a nice experience.

Hiking in Okinawa
📍 Daisekirinzan (ASMUI Spiritual Hikes)
📍 嘉津宇岳・古巣岳・三角山・安和岳 (Katsuudake, Furushidake, Sankakuyama, Awadake)

First time hiking in Okinawa.

Went to Daisekirizan first. It was an easy hike (like strolling in a park). Lots of interesting limestone formation. There are 3 courses: short course, regular course and the spirit forest course. We tried the regular course and the spirit forest.
Entrance fee is a bit pricey (¥2500) but they offer free drinks at the end of the hike.

Next day, we went to Katsuudake. It’s a famous mountain in Okinawa. It’s a short hike to the summit from the parking lot. But the trail’s not that easy. Since it’s a short hike, we decided to check the other peaks. But it has become a “questioning-my-life-choices” moment. The trail??? Just jagged rocks. Wasn't expecting it to be like that.
There was no path. Just sharp pointy rocks. And exposed areas. Definitely not for beginner hikers.
Got some bruises. But it was hell of a hike.

Went here with my friends yesterday. We did bungee jump, bridge swing, tower climb and bridge walk. Yummy food, too.
