All international students at Kanazawa University are invited to come to our Open House event on 24 April from 14:00-16:30 at the Music Hall inside the Human and Social Science Hall 4.

We will be offering free clothes (including new and unused items), household goods, clothes for kids, warm bedding, towels, stationery, and other items donated by staff and students at Kanazawa University.

You can take up to 5 items. Please bring a bag!

We hope to see you on the 24th.

Are you ready for the new semester? We are welcoming many new international students in April. To celebrate, the ISC in the Human and Social Sciences at Kanazawa University will hold a Cherry Blossom viewing party with international students at 3 pm on 10 April (check the poster for details). Japanese students and staff are also invited. We'll bring some snacks and drinks. This is also great opportunity to ask questions about life in Kanazawa, university, club activities etc. If the weather is fine, we'll hold the event on the lawn in front of the Human and Social Science Hall 3. If it is raining, we'll meet in room 103 of the Human and Social Science Lecture Hall 2 instead.

金沢大学にの人社環研・法学研究科の留学生代表者組織である留学生コミッティ（ISC）が4月10日の15時から、留学生とのお花見会を開催します。詳しくはポスターをご確認ください。とりわけ4月に入学する留学生がスムーズに金沢での生活を始められるよう、いろいろガイダンスを実施します。日本人学生とスタッフもみんなウェルカムですよ！スナックや飲み物を用意します。晴れたら、人間社会3号館前緑地にてイベントを開催します。雨の場合、人間社会2講義棟103講義室にてウェルカムカフェを開催します。

The snowy season is coming to an end in Kanzawa, and the IOX-Arosa ski resort in Nanto city, where we learned skiing on 12 February, is now closed. But wonderful memories of a beautiful day in the snow together remain. Many international students tried skiing or snowboarding for the first time! Experienced Japanese students also joined the ski tour to help us beginners, who also received support from experienced international students and professional instructors. From morning to noon, we had ski/snowboarding lessons. Instructors showed us how to use the lifts and how to be safe on the slopes. In the afternoon, we enjoyed free time skiing and snowboarding. 🏂 ❄️ 🎿

Have you seen these boxes on campus? The volunteers that installed them were initially collecting used text books that Japanese students no longer needed, but they are now expanding their initiative to also reuse textbooks for international students. This is how it works: International students who no longer need their old text books may donate them by throwing them into the donation boxes on campus. Members of the volunteer group Study For Two branch at Kanazawa University then collect them and re-sells them at half the price. They then use the profit to support children’s education in Tanzania.

In January 2026, we organized a Falconry event for international students. The social history behind the training of these birds is fascinating. Exchanges of prey, for example, were important for the building of relationships between military leaders in the Tokugawa era. Here in Kanazawa, the Maeda clan was involved in training of birds of prey, which was strictly regulated. The event for our students involved a demonstration of the falcon training, along with explanations of the social history of falconry in Japan. The students were also allowed to have the falcon land on their hands!
