Beautiful handwriting isn't about talent It comes from how you move the brush pen
Even when everyone writes the same character, 桜 (cherry blossom), every finished piece looks completely different

The angle you hold the brush, how much pressure you apply, how fast you move — all of it naturally reveals a bit of who you are
You don't need to write beautifully from the start

Just learn the basic movements and try one stroke at a time, and even your everyday handwriting will slowly start to change

For those of you who love Japan, we also offer an online brush pen class

You can write quietly with a brush pen while picking up some Japanese along the way

今日は男性だけの回

空海の「風信帖」に挑戦された方、
「天」と「斜」を練習された方。

私は条幅と仮名をひたすら書き、
参加者の皆さんにも見ていただきました。

今日も皆で黙々と集中。
あっという間の2時間でした。

今日は、広島に原爆が投下された日
そして鹿児島で8・6豪雨災害が起きた日です

犠牲になられた方々を悼み、平和と穏やかな日々を祈ります

先月もご参加いただき、ありがとうございました
今月の書道教室は、明日と日曜日に開催します✍️

最初に仮名を少し練習したあとは、それぞれが興味のあるお手本を選んで、自由に書いてみましょう

今日は『書游』8月号の課題練習と、明日の教室のお手本を書きました

【1枚目｜召し上がってください】

🎁お中元やお盆の手土産に、こんなひと言をさりげなく添えても素敵かなと思い、お手本にしました

手書きの言葉があるだけで、贈り物が少しあたたかくなります

【2枚目｜何遵約法】

読みは「かじゅんやくほう」

「何」は疑問詞ではなく、前漢の名臣・蕭何のことです

蕭何が、高祖・劉邦の示した簡素な法律の方針を守ったという故事です

同じ四文字を楷書・行書・草書で書き比べると、文字の変化も楽しめます

【3枚目｜千字文・楷書】

「金生麗水、玉出崑崗、剣号巨闕…」と続く千字文の一節

大きな文字とはまた違う、細字の楷書ならではの静かな集中を味わいます

【4枚目｜王鐸・行書】

私自身の漢字規定課題です

「宮漏不聞白晝清〜」は、王鐸が宮中で皇帝に召され、政治について意見を述べた際に詠んだ詩

礼や軍務を論じる緊張感のある内容を、力強い行書で練習しました

It is also the anniversary of the August 6 torrential rain disaster in Kagoshima

We remember and mourn those who lost their lives, and pray for peace and peaceful days ahead

Sending our thoughts to everyone affected by the Kumamoto Earthquakes, and wishing you continued peace and comfort.

Recently, a lovely British couple joined my Japanese calligraphy experience.

Although they had limited time, they chose to come and experience calligraphy with me. After I helped arrange their taxi, they thanked me with warm hugs and kisses on the cheek—it was such a heartwarming moment.

Their interpretation of the kanji “水” (water) was wonderfully unique and artistic.
I look forward to seeing you again—next time in my online brush pen class!

熊本地震で被災された皆さまに心を寄せ、穏やかな日々が続くことを願っています。

先日、イギリスから素敵なご夫婦が書道体験に参加してくださいました。

限られた時間のなか、私の書道体験を選んで会いに来てくださったお二人。帰りのタクシーを手配すると、ほっぺにキスと温かなハグをいただき、なんとも言えない温かい気持ちになりました。

お二人が書いた「水」は、個性が光るとても芸術的な作品に✨

Another lovely couple from San Francisco joined my Japanese calligraphy experience in Kagoshima ✨
We had such a great conversation that it took us a little while to actually begin the calligraphy session!
But once we started, they became completely focused and created two beautiful pieces each in no time.
They both love water activities and the outdoors, and I truly enjoyed hearing their stories and chatting with them.
Thank you for spending such a wonderful time with me. I hope you’ll come back to Kagoshima again!
And once things settle down, I’m finally going to visit San Francisco and the West Coast ✈️

今回のテーマは「無心」

上手に書こうとするよりも、
心を静かに整えながら筆を運びます。

少し難しい言葉にも挑戦。

集中して書いた一枚には、
その人だけの味わいが生まれます。

鹿児島はまだ七夕飾りを飾れるので短冊に書いていただきました。
