I was just coming out of the parking lot, about to cross the road, when the traffic light for the zebra crossing turned red.
Then I noticed this dad in a suit with his toddler crossing from the other side of the road.
It was around 7:45 a.m., if I remember correctly, so this man was obviously on his way to work.
And I noticed he let his little boy walk by himself.
At first, the boy was walking happily beside his dad, looking like he had places to be. 😂
Everything was going smoothly until they got to the middle of the road.
My guy just stopped.
I mean, HE STOPPED. 😭😂
No explanation.
Meanwhile, the green light was already blinking and would soon turn red.
And this poor dad suddenly realizing his son had chosen the wrong place to take a break, tried everything to keep him moving😂
You could literally see him doing everything possible to get his son off the road before the light changed.
And me?
I was just standing there watching the whole thing unfold and thinking…
Ahhh. So I am not alone! 😭😂
Because this is exactly how toddlers operate.
They can be perfectly happy and cooperative one second, walking nicely beside you…
Then suddenly, their brain goes:
“Actually, I have decided to stop here.” 😂
No amount of explaining.
No amount of “Come on, let’s go.”
Nothing.
They have entered STOP MODE. 😭😂
And what made it even funnier was that this was a dad in a full suit, clearly trying to get to work, while simultaneously negotiating with a tiny human who had apparently forgotten that they were crossing a road. 😂
Honestly, toddlers may grow up in different countries, speak different languages and have completely different cultures…
But some things are universal . 😂
They can be happy, adventurous and moving with you one minute, and then suddenly switch off completely the next.
I saw that man struggling this morning and thought:
“Sir, I understand you. I really, really do.” 😭😂❤️
