This exhibition introduces the latest research on how marine microplastics are generated, featuring real specimens, washed-up debris, and simulations showing their future distribution in the environment.

#今週の一枚　生の松原元寇防塁駐車場から松林を抜けて元寇防塁（生の松原地区）まで行ってみました。
海岸にも近く散策するにはちょうどいいところでした。
この松林は早良保全緑地といって九大が管理しているところみたいです。
(※九州大学キャンパス計画室保全緑地部門が管理しています。)

I parked at the lot for the Iki-no-Matsubara Genko Borui (a Kamakura-era stone wall built to defend against the Mongol invasions) and walked through the pine forest to reach it. It's within walking distance of Shimoyamato Station on the JR Chikuhi Line.
It's right near the coast, so it made for a really pleasant walk.
This pine forest is called the Sawara Conservation Green Space, and it's managed by Kyushu University.

九州大学洋上風力研究教育センター（RECOW）では、洋上風力に係る計画、設置、運営・維持及び撤去の一連のプロジェクトフェーズに必須となるエンジニアリングの専門知識・能力を培うことができる人材育成プログラムとして、「洋上風力発電人材育成講座」を開講しています。

現在、「洋上風力発電人材育成講座『風車の基本』」受講申込受付中！
皆様の「基本的なことから学びたい」とのお声から超初心者向け講義が新規に開講します。

風力発電にこれから携わる方、他業種から参入される方、「自分は文系なので難しい数式の出てくる講義は辛い」と思われている方、ぜひご受講ください。
全4回の講義では、難しい数式は使わず、かみくだいた言葉で風車の基本を説明します。

🌊 Learn wind power from the ground up!★
At Kyushu University's Research and Education Center for Offshore Wind (RECOW), we have developed the "Offshore Wind Power Human Resource Development Program"—a training program that builds the engineering expertise and capabilities essential across the full project lifecycle of offshore wind: planning, installation, operation & maintenance, and decommissioning.
Applications are now open for "Wind Turbine Basics,” part of the Offshore Wind Power Workforce Development Program!
This new course was developed in response to requests for content covering the fundamentals, and is designed for complete beginners. It's suited for those new to wind power, those transitioning from other industries, or those without a technical background. Across four sessions, the course covers the basics of wind turbines in plain language, without complex equations.

📅 Dates: September 2 – September 30, 2026,
every Wednesday, 10:30–12:00
4 sessions total (90 minutes each)
📍 Format: Online (recorded sessions also available for later viewing)
✅ Application deadline: Wednesday, August 26, 2026

Did you know that Kyushu University has a 🌲Hokkaido Research Forest🌲 in Ashoro, eastern Hokkaido?
The forest supports research and student field training, while also providing forestry education programs for local schools.
These photos show the forest landscape and animal specimens. The forest floor is covered with Miyako-zasa bamboo grass, creating a beautiful green carpet ✨
The visit also offered an opportunity to reflect on the importance of coexistence between people and wildlife.

みなさん、九州大学に🌲北海道演習林🌲があることをご存じですか？
北海道東部の足寄町にある演習林では、研究や学生実習に加え、地域の学校で林業体験授業などのアウトリーチ活動も行っています。
写真は演習林の風景と動物の剥製です。一面に広がるミヤコザサはまるで緑の絨毯のよう✨
また、展示されていたヒグマの剥製は、親離れして初めての冬眠を迎えた個体だったそうです。しかし、人間の生活圏に住み着いてしまったため、やむを得ず駆除されたとのことでした。
近年は北海道でも本州でも熊の出没が大きな課題となっており、人と野生動物が共存できる環境づくりに向けたさまざまな取り組みが行われています🌲✨🐻
