The J-MENA team successfully hosted a comprehensive webinar dedicated to guiding prospective MEXT Scholarship applicants through the embassy recommendation track application process, research proposal writing, interview preparation, and student life in Japan.

The session welcomed more than 120 participants, with strong engagement and active discussions continuing throughout the webinar until the end.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our speakers for generously sharing their experiences and valuable insights:

✨Mariam Hisham: MEXT 2026 recipient and current PhD student at Kyushu University
✨Dr. Rami Derbel: MEXT 2016 recipient and former assistant professor at Saga University

Key topics discussed included:
-Introduction to the MEXT 2027 Scholarship
-Student life and research experience in Japan
-Practical advice from alumni on how to write a strong research proposal
-Common mistakes applicants should avoid
-Interview preparation tips

One of the central messages throughout the webinar was that a successful MEXT application tells one coherent academic story, from past studies, to research goals, to future contribution both in Japan and the applicant’s home country.

On December 8, Associate Professor Yutaro Oki (J-MENA) paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of Japan in Kuwait and met with H.E. Ambassador Kenichiro MUKAI 🇯🇵🇰🇼

Prof. OKI expressed sincere appreciation for the Embassy’s continued support, exchanged views on J-MENA’s future activities, and was honored to attend a Japanese Language Speech Contest, where he had the opportunity to introduce studying in Japan. 🎤📚🤝
