Dear Class of 2026,

It feels like just yesterday that you were stepping through our doors as fresh Grade 12s, eager yet uncertain of what the year ahead would hold.

Before you knew it, you turned in your last assignments, enjoyed a final meal with your classmates, and cheered for our Sharks one last time.

And now there are empty rooms and empty halls that you outgrew, but that still linger with the memories of your cheerful voices.

Whether you spent one year or fifteen years with us, we hope that your time here brought you community, security, and the confidence to take on whatever opportunities may come next.

Your presence will be missed, but never forgotten. We know you will make us proud.

Congratulations, Class of 2026.

Sincerely,
Fukuoka International School

Our Grade 4 students recently showcased their learning at the Mini Exhibition, sharing individual projects inspired by their inquiry unit and their own interests, questions, and curiosities.

Throughout the process, students took ownership of their learning by researching, planning, setting SMART goals, and creating presentations on topics that mattered to them.

The exhibition provided an opportunity for students to share their understanding with parents and visitors through interactive displays and discussions. We are proud of the confidence and creativity they demonstrated as they presented their learning!

Preparing students for the future means helping them engage with technology thoughtfully, responsibly, and ethically.

Following their recent presentation at the 21st Century Learning AIFE Conference in Yokohama, our educators Marianne and Mariano brought their expertise back to campus to work with our Grade 11 students on the role of AI in the Extended Essay process.

The session explored how AI tools can support research, organization, and critical thinking while maintaining strong academic integrity and responsible use practices.

By bringing these conversations directly into the IB classroom, we continue to help students build the skills and confidence needed to navigate an increasingly AI-driven world.

Our Grade 8 students proudly presented their work at the MYP Community Project Exhibition, showcasing projects focusing on the six global contexts and driven by real-world impact.

Through months of planning, collaboration, and action, their projects reflected a wide range of community engagement, from volunteering in the local community through beach cleanups to creating a more inclusive school environment through initiatives like an elementary soccer tournament.

We’re proud of the way they turned their ideas into action and demonstrated the power of community engagement to create positive change.

Our students are excited to begin their partnership with Nonoma, a local studio specializing in traditional Japanese painting. 🎨🇯🇵

As part of this new collaboration, students will support international visitors by providing translation and interpretation during Nonoma’s art workshops. Before stepping into that role, they first took time to learn and experience the traditional Nihonga painting process themselves, gaining a deeper understanding of the art form and its cultural significance.

This marks the beginning of an exciting partnership, one that combines language, culture, and community in a meaningful way. We look forward to seeing our students grow through this unique opportunity.

Our Kindergarten students had an exciting hands-on learning experience as Tsuyazaki Base Camp visited to teach them about recycling plastic waste. ♻️

Students explored the full recycling process, from shredding plastic using a bicycle-powered machine to melting it down and pouring it into molds to create new items. They even had the chance to try each step themselves, turning learning into a fun and meaningful experience.

Through this workshop, students gained a deeper understanding of how everyday materials can be reused and the importance of caring for our environment. A wonderful example of learning through doing and thinking about a more sustainable future.

As part of our Career Week, we were excited to host both a Career Fair and University Fair, connecting students with a wide range of future pathways.

Through guest speakers and interactive booths, students had the opportunity to engage with professionals from our community, ask questions, and gain valuable insight into different careers and university options.

A sincere thank you to all the career professionals and university representatives who shared their time, knowledge, and experiences with our students. Your support plays a vital role in helping them explore and shape their futures.
