I founded The International Protocol and Etiquette Academy of Japan (ICPA) with a single, clear conviction:

That in a globalised world, the greatest barrier between people is not language, power, or culture —
it is the absence of mutual respect and genuine understanding.

Throughout my international studies and professional experience, I witnessed how cultural misunderstanding, unspoken expectations, and subtle behavioural differences could either build trust or quietly destroy it.

In diplomacy, business, medicine, and international cooperation, success is rarely determined by technical expertise alone.
It is determined by how people make others feel — respected, understood, and safe.

Japan has preserved for centuries a refined philosophy of conduct rooted in dignity, harmony, and attentiveness to others.

Yet this knowledge is often invisible to the modern global world, and even to many within Japan itself.

ICPA was created to bridge this gap.

By integrating Japanese cultural wisdom with Western academic frameworks, behavioural science, and international protocol standards, ICPA offers a systematic, intellectually rigorous approach to human interaction at the highest levels of society.

Our purpose is not to teach surface-level etiquette.
It is to cultivate professionals who can carry their culture with integrity, represent their institutions with authority, and build trust across borders with quiet confidence.

This is the vision that continues to guide ICPA —
and the reason it exists today.

私が国際プロトコール・マナーアカデミーICPAを創設した背景には、ただ一つの、明確な信念がありました。

それは、グローバル化が進む現代において、人と人との間に生まれる最大の壁は、言語でも、権力でも、文化の違いでもない――
相互の敬意と、真の理解が欠けていることだという確信です。

私は国際的な学びと実務経験を通じて、文化の誤解、言葉にならない期待、そしてごく繊細な振る舞いの差異が、信頼を育むこともあれば、気づかれぬまま関係を損なうこともある現実を、幾度となく目の当たりにしてきました。

外交、ビジネス、医療、国際協力の現場において、成果は専門知識や技術だけで決まることは稀です。
最終的に問われるのは、相手にどう感じていただけるか
「尊重されている」「理解されている」「安心できる」と相手が実感できるかどうかです。

日本には、何世紀にもわたり受け継がれてきた、品位と調和、そして他者への細やかな配慮に根ざした、洗練された行動の哲学があります。
しかし、その価値は現代の国際社会において十分に可視化されておらず、また日本国内においてさえ、その本質が見過ごされていることも少なくありません。

ICPAは、この隔たりを埋めるために生まれました。

日本文化の叡智を、欧米の学術的フレームワーク、行動科学、そして国際プロトコール基準と統合することで、ICPAは社会の最前線に立つ方々に向けた、体系的で知的に精緻な、人間関係のアプローチを提供しています。

私たちの目的は、表面的なマナーを教えることではありません。
