Yesterday, the students of Visual Image Design Dept. just went to the Ghibli Museum. This place is a must go for those who loves Studio Ghibli's works.

It only takes around 30 minutes by train to go from Ochanomizu station to Mitaka station, where the Ghibli Museum is located. Since it's very close, you can even go with your classmates after morning class.

The TOKYO BUONO magazine No. 9 was finally out!!!

TOKYO BUONO is the official annual manga magazine of Tokyo Designer Gakuin College's Manga department. It has all sort of genre from shounen manga to shoujo, seinen manga, from fantasy, action to romance or slice of life. For the students of TDG, having their work selected for the school's magazine is the first step towards the goal: to have their own manga published.

In this TOKYO BUONO No. 9 with 316 page, we have the honor to publish 2 works drawn by the students of Accademia Europea di Manga (European Academy of Manga), the first specialized school of manga in Europe. This is a part of the collaboration program between the 2 schools. The manga drawn by the students of TDG was also published in the Accademia Europea di Manga's magazine.

The TOKYO BUONO magazine is currently distributed for free to those who come to Manga department's open campus.

The first year students from Art Department just went to the 18th DOMANI-Tomorrow Exhibition at National Art Center Tokyo.

The art is presented in various forms of expression, such as painting, animation, sculpture and installation. Most of the works here are photography allowed so everyone took a lot of photos.

The "Juunin Toiro Exhibition" will be held this Saturday and Sunday (23-24/1) at Design Festa Gallery Harajuku. The works exhibited here were all drawn by the first year students of Illustration Department. The detail is as follow:

The name of this exhibition is taken from a proverb of Japan. "Juunin Toiro" (十人十色) litterally means "10 people 10 colors", no one is like others. Everyone has their own characteristics, their own way to shine. That is the message the students of TDG want to convey to everyone through this exhibition.

The first snowfall of this year in Tokyo!

Today's classes were canceled due to the heavy snow. Most of the train lines in Tokyo were suspended for a short time.

The Saikachi hill on which TDG is located becomes quite slippery on snowy days so please watch your step on the way to school.

To celebrate the new year, the students of the Graphic design department decided to hold a calligraphy festa. Let's take a look!

The one who had the honor of doing the first stroke is Shibata, a first year of the Graphic design department . Shibata was also in charge of the calligraphy demonstration during last year's Saikachi exhibition at TDG.

Calligraphy is not only about words. We also have a beautiful work of art depicting the rising sun and Mount. Fuji. The word in the picture is "Hiyori" (日和) which means "fair weather". It also means "a good day for doing something", which in this case, "a perfect beginning for a new year".

This November, the students and teachers of Visual Image Design Dept. went on a trip to Kobe to participate in the SIGGRAPH ASIA 2015 Exhibition.

Everyone looked so fired up in the Visual Image Design Dept.'s red uniform, don't you agree?

Being one of the top schools of animation, TDG get a lot of visitors from abroad.
This time, we had the honor to welcome 24 students and 3 teachers from Norway who is studying animation to TDG for a field trip.
We talked a lot about our favorite anime, appreciated each other's works. It was so much fun and we also learned a lot from each others!

Not only in Japan but crossing over nations and meeting people who share the same interest as you is one of the wonderful thing your can get at TDG!

"Is this truly suitable for children?"_The students received many constructive advices from TDG graduates, who were watching from the viewpoint of the audience.

Do you know thats all TDG freshmen went to a 3 days and 2 nights school trip right afer enrollment?

This year, the assignment for Animation Department is "Urban and rural". The students must work in group to create a storyline with the inspiration they got from looking at the scenery during the field trip.
Eating delicious food, gazing at the beautiful scenery and, more than anything, the joy of working on your own creation together with your comrades is without doubt, the key to a successful presentation, don't you think?

Let's take a peek at Interior Design Department's trial lesson!
The theme of this time is creating you ideal room using wallpaper technique.
Everyone pasted the wallpaper together and tried out various furniture combination. The final result sure look good, doesn't it?
