Our Ph.D. candidates Ryo Nishiyama, Phillip McCann, M.S. candidate Kei Furuya, et al. have a new paper! They boosted the brightness of Raman tags while keeping the size as small as 26nm. Their paper is now available in Analytical Chemistry: https://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/acs.analchem.3c01958

We are pleased to announce that the groundbreaking research paper on AI-enabled image-activated cell sorting (IACS) by Hayashi, Iris, Sophy, Tiffany, Ding, Maik, and Isozaki et al. has been published in LabonaChip! Our team played valiantly in the of the Ohkoshi Cup and although we were unable to take home the win, we still placed second overall.

You bet we’ll be gunning for first place next time! Great work team!

An amazing day hosting Nishiyamato Gakuen High School students! We showcased captivating light-based experiments, sparking inspiration for the scientists of tomorrow!

Last week, we had the pleasure of inviting Professor Aydogan Ozcan from UCLA who gave an excellent talk about -enabled and diffractive that shined light on the synergy between deep learning and physics research!

Members across all teams got together with family and collaborators for our annual lab ! Despite the heat, we celebrated yet another summer together with food, drinks, and fun!

Team interaction shouldn't be limited to the lab! The Ding Team hosted a so that members old and new could get to know each other and have some fun! (We may or may not have been the loudest at the restaurant)

We were delighted to host Dr. Tom Cohen Ben Arye from The Good Food Institute. His captivating talk showcased groundbreaking research on “Opportunities in alternative proteins R&D.” Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ben Arye for generously sharing insights.

As the Obon holiday season has arrived, many of us are enjoying time off to rest and recharge. Though the lab may be quieter, we know everyone will come back rejuvenated and ready to tackle our next challenges. Enjoy the holidays, everyone!

Our softball season has come to an end, and we’re thrilled to announce that clinched the 3rd place! They gave their all on the field, showcasing their team spirit and sportsmanship. We can’t wait to step up to the plate again next year!
