Interviews - Aung Lin Htin

“I want to see the world beyond Myanmar.”
That aspiration led Aung Lin Htin to Japan, and eventually to APU.

Aung Lin Htin, a member of APU's very first cohort in 2000, has dedicated his life to creating opportunities for young people in Myanmar to learn, grow, and build their futures. Following his graduation from APU, he has spent his career empowering the youth of Myanmar and has built businesses across tourism, education and hospitality.

More than two decades later, Aung continues to build bridges between Japan and Myanmar through education, skill development and creating opportunities.

APUの第1期生の一人であるアウンリンティンさんは、ミャンマーの若者たちが学び、成長し、自らの未来を築くための機会を創出することに人生を捧げてきました。APU卒業後は、観光、教育、ホスピタリティ分野で事業を展開しながら、長年にわたり若者のエンパワーメントに取り組んでいます。

そして20年以上が経った今もなお、教育やスキル開発、そして新たな機会の創出を通じて、日本とミャンマーをつなぐ架け橋として活躍し続けています。

Faculty Achievement 🌟

Associate Professor Emilia S. HEO of the College of Asia Pacific Studies (APS) has been awarded the Distinguished Excellence in Teaching International Studies Prize in June 2026 by the British International Studies Association (BISA).

She received the award for transforming the way students learn international relations. Through activities such as visual arts, music, literature, and creative performance, she creates opportunities for students to become active participants rather than mere observers.

アジア太平洋学部（APS）の 許升薫エミリア准教授 が、2026年6月に国際関係学の学会 British International Studies Association (BISA)において、「Distinguished Excellence in Teaching International Studies Prize（教育功績賞）」 を受賞しました。

許准教授は、視覚芸術や音楽、文学、パフォーマンスなどを活用し、学生が主体的に国際関係論を学べる環境を創出していることが高く評価され、今回の受賞につながりました。

🚀宇宙教室「CanSat」をAPUで開催🛰️

8月1日・2日、APUで宇宙教室「CanSat」を開催し、大分県内の中学生25名とAPU生5名が参加しました。

立命館大学の中須賀真一教授を講師に迎え、参加者は空き缶サイズの模擬人工衛星「CanSat」の製作に挑戦し、最終日には高さ9mからの投下コンテストを実施。歴代最高得点も誕生し、会場は大いに盛り上がりました！
宇宙への夢とものづくりの楽しさが詰まった、熱い2日間となりました。🚀

🚀 APU Hosts CanSat Space Workshop! 🛰️
On August 1–2, APU hosted the CanSat Space Workshop, welcoming 25 junior high school students from Oita Prefecture and five APU students.

Led by Professor Shinichi Nakasuka of Ritsumeikan University, participants built their own can-sized model satellites, known as CanSats, and put them to the test in a 9-meter drop challenge on the final day. The event even produced the highest score ever recorded in the workshop's history, creating an exciting atmosphere for everyone involved!
It was an inspiring two days filled with the excitement of space exploration, teamwork, and hands-on engineering. 🚀

Bangladesh Week is over so it's time to have a look at some of the best photos from throughout the week 📸

The students put in an amazing amount of effort this year, from the opening parade at the fountain, delicious authentic cuisine, movie and music nights and of course their incredible performance at the grand show. Let's give them a huge round of applause 👏
