Petra Kids Activities

After some month in my home country Germany we are back in Jordan.
It’s time to start with the Petra Kids Activities again ... the COVID cases has drop and holidays will come soon.
If you are planning a trip to Petra and like to add a tailer-made kids activity just let me know. I have had different programs and are also happy to create something new what fits your children interests.

Today with this windy and cloudy weather we tried our lantern inside. Beautiful autumn feeling ...

Today we tried a new kind of lanterns. Beautiful autumn leave were the base for it. We are exiting how the result will be once they are finished.

The days getting shorter, the leaves turn yellow, red and brown and it´s getting colder. It´s autumn!
Together with the Petra Fig Tree Villa we create a memorable autumn experience. Your kids will create their own lantern and if it´s getting dark we will enjoy together the evening outside. Warm drinks, stick bread, lights, a lantern parade and and autumn dinner. Let´s celebrate the autumn ...

Today we run our workshop "Petra and the Nabateans" - Be a Detective for the 2nd time. It was a fun morning and the kids did a great job!

My daughter and I went with Jolanda from the Petra Fig Tree Villa to the first library in Wadi Musa. We are very happy about it. Is a small, nice place with a couple of kids books and a lot of different books for adults.
In my mind are already some ideas to support the library and bring the idea of a library and reading closer to the kids from Wadi Musa. Books, reading and listening are so important for the kids development in every state of age.

I would be more than happy if you have books who are not needed any more to donate it, that we can support the library. Just send me a message and we can organise it.

What a lovely weekend.
The last two mornings we had our new Workshop: "Fossil hunt and Art from natural treasures"
1. Day: After a short introduce we just drove a couple of minutes from the Petra Fig Tree Villa to a very nice spot, where you can find a lot of fossils, have a nice walk and a beautiful view over the mountains of Petra.
The kids were very successful and brought a full bag of fossils and nice stones back to our host.
We washed and dried the treasures and start the first creativity crafts. I brought some examples and ideas but for me it is more important that the kids can try their own ideas, go into a process of creativity and have the possibility to do what and how they like to do it.
So stones had been colored and little flower mosaics were produced.
2. Day: The kids like to work with salt dough. We made the dough together. Pearls, salt dough mandalas, a ring and a pizza for the play kitchen were made. While the dough was drying the kids choose their favorite fossils and stones to take them home.
We made a bird from the feet prints before the salt dough pearls got different colors and were assembled into a hanger.

On Thurday the 20th August we will have our Workshop "Petra and the Nabateans - Be a Detective".
If your child like to join just sent us a message.

Some information about the workshop:
The kids will be provided with a list of clues and together we go in search of answers about the legendary rock city of Petra and its inhabitants; the Nabateans.
We make our way to the Petra Museum on foot from the B&B and will find some answers there. But to solve all the clues and come up with the final answer your ingenuity will be required.

Last Monday the "Detectives of Wadi Musa" went on mission.
Did you know how the Nabataens manage and control the water? Or where the Eye Idol is? Or if the Nabataen children had toys? Our detectives found it out. With a lot of questions and hints they stepped into the history. A fabulous afternoon with a smart and funny group.

Some impressions from our German speaking Workshop "1,2,3 Wer kommt da aus dem Ei". Handcraft, music, games and a lot of fun.

Today we had a great first day together.
At the beginning of our german speaking workshop "1,2,3 Wer kommt da aus dem Ei?" we discussed which animals hatch from eggs.
Then we read and played the story of the book "The very hungry caterpillar".
Of course, handcraft was also made. A caterpillar and a butterfly were created with different materials and techniques.
Tomorrow we will deal with chickens, birds and turtles. I am looking forward to it.
