De Avond Vierdaagse is voor schoolkinderen die elk jaar in mei wordt gehouden.
Helaas is dit niet opgenomen in de leerboeken als zijnde Nederlandse tradities. Wat mij betreft mag dit toegevoegd worden.
The Avondvierdaagse is a Dutch event for children. The name means “four evening walk.” Children walk for four evenings in a row through their town or village.
They usually walk with their school, their friends, their parents, and sometimes their teachers. Children can often choose how far they want to walk, like 3, 5, or 10 kilometres.
It is not a race. Nobody is trying to be first. The goal is simply to finish all four walks.
During the walk, children talk with friends, laugh, eat snacks, and enjoy being outside in the evening. It feels fun because many children from the town are walking at the same time.
The last evening is the most special part. Many family members come to watch and cheer when the children finish.
At the end, children often get flowers and a medal. The medal shows that they completed all four evenings.
This happens in many towns across the Netherlands. It is a simple Dutch tradition about walking together, finishing together, and feeling proud.

Two days ago the Dutch embassy kicked off the new season of the outdoor film days at the Royal Film Commission with the screening of Zomer vacht. Before the screening a reception was held. I invited a student to get the first experience of the Dutch community and the culture. I did this last year too and it becomes a tradition. We took a picture with the ambassador and her Royal Highness Princess Zain bint Al Hussain
Nederlandse supermarkten hebben een grote verscheidenheid aan zuivelproducten. Dat merk je pas als je in het buitenland woont en dan mis je het.
Gelukkig kun je veel zelf maken en vaak is het nog lekkerder ook.
De meeste studenten struikelen over onze tijdsaanduiding.
De Arabische sprekenden hebben het iets makkelijker omdat het voor hen redelijk hetzelfde is.
Dat één woord zoveel kan verschillen per regio of zelfs stad.
Waar ik ben opgegroeid wordt het uitgesproken als "teute".
Kun je raden waar ik heel lang gewoond heb?

KNM:
Vanavond is het om 20.00 uur twee minuten stil in heel Nederland.
We gedenken de oorlogsslachtoffers die gevallen zijn in de 2e Wereldoorlog.
Dit heet de Nationale Dodenherdenking dag.
Op de Dam in Amsterdam leggen onder andere de koning en koningin een krans bij het monument.
Dit wordt ook rechtstreeks op de TV uitgezonden.
In veel gemeenten wordt een dergelijke herdenking gehouden.
