The baptism site of Jesus Christ, Bethany Beyond the Jordan, has been inscribed in the UNESCO's World Heritage List as one of the holiest Christian sites in the world. World Heritage Committee.

The decision was unanimously taken Friday by the UNESCO's 39th World Heritage Committee, in Germany's Bonn.

Jordan is the home to the cultural World Heritage List sites: Petra, Quseir Amra and Um Rasas. Wadi Rum is listed as a mixed World Heritage site.
