جامعة البترا تعلن مباشرة رئيسها الجديد مهامه الأكاديمية والإدارية
باشر الأستاذ الدكتور علي أبو غنيمة مهامه رئيسًا لجامعة البترا، إيذانًا ببدء مرحلة جديدة من العمل الأكاديمي والإداري، تستند إلى خبرة علمية ومهنية واسعة في مجالات التعليم العالي والهندسة المعمارية والتخطيط الحضري.
ويحمل الأستاذ الدكتور أبو غنيمة درجة الدكتوراه في هندسة العمارة من جامعة الدراسات في روما، وتُوّجت مسيرته الأكاديمية والعلمية بحصوله على وسام «الفارس» من رئاسة الجمهورية الإيطالية، تقديرًا لإسهاماته في المجالات العلمية والتعليمية.
وتدرّج الدكتور أبو غنيمة في عدد من المناصب القيادية الأكاديمية؛ إذ تولى عمادة كليتي الهندسة والفنون والتصميم في الجامعة الأردنية لعدة دورات، كما شغل منصب عميد كلية الهندسة ونائبًا لرئيس جامعة آل البيت، إلى جانب مشاركته في لجان تحكيم معمارية دولية في كل من إيطاليا وبريطانيا ومصر.
كما جمع أبو غنيمة بين الخبرة الأكاديمية والممارسة المهنية، من خلال عمله مستشارًا معماريًا لدى أمانة عمّان الكبرى وسلطة منطقة العقبة الاقتصادية الخاصة، ومشاركته في إعداد مخططات حضرية، إلى جانب تأليفه ونشره عددًا من المؤلفات والأبحاث العلمية المحكمة بثلاث لغات.
وتأتي مباشرة رئيس الجامعة الجديد مهامه في إطار توجه جامعة البترا نحو مواصلة مسيرة التطوير والتحديث، وتعزيز جودة التعليم والبحث العلمي، والارتقاء بالأداء المؤسسي بما ينسجم مع تطلعات الجامعة وخططها المستقبلية.

University of Petra Announces New President Assumes Academic and Administrative Duties
Professor Dr. Ali Abu Ghanima has officially assumed his duties as President of the University of Petra, marking the beginning of a new phase of academic and administrative work grounded in extensive academic and professional experience in higher education, architectural engineering, and urban planning.
Professor Dr. Abu Ghanima holds a PhD in Architectural Engineering from the University of Studies in Rome. His academic and scientific career has been distinguished by his receipt of the Italian Republic’s “Knight” Order, in recognition of his contributions to the scientific and educational fields.
Dr. Abu Ghanima has held several academic leadership positions. He served as Dean of the Faculties of Engineering and Arts and Design at the University of Jordan for several terms, and also served as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Vice President of Al al-Bayt University. He has also participated in international architectural juries in Italy, the United Kingdom, and Egypt.
In addition to his academic career, Abu Ghanima has extensive professional experience. He has worked as an architectural consultant for the Greater Amman Municipality and the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, and has contributed to the preparation of urban plans. He has also authored and published a number of books and peer-reviewed academic research papers in three languages.
The new University President’s assumption of his duties comes as part of the University of Petra’s commitment to continuing its development and modernization, enhancing the quality of education and scientific research, and advancing institutional performance in line with the University’s aspirations and future plans.

مجلس التربية والتعليم وتنمية الموارد البشرية يقر تشكيلة مجلس أمناء جامعة البترا
أقر مجلس التربية والتعليم وتنمية الموارد البشرية تشكيلة مجلس أمناء جامعة البترا لمدة أربع سنوات، برئاسة معالي الدكتور غازي الزبن، وذلك بناءً على تنسيب شركة البتراء للتعليم، بهدف رفد الجامعة بكفاءات أكاديمية ومهنية تسهم في دعم مسيرتها وتطوير سياساتها التعليمية والإدارية.
وضم المجلس في عضويته رئيس جامعة البترا الأستاذ الدكتور علي أبو غنيمة، والمهندس محمد هشام محمد مازن الأنصاري، والمهندس خالد علي.
وشملت التعيينات من فئة الأكاديميين الأستاذ الدكتور محمد بني سلامة، والأستاذ الدكتور زياد الرواضية، والأستاذ الدكتور أيمن مساعدة. كما مثّل قطاعا الصناعة والتجارة كل من المهندس عبد الرحيم البقاعي، والأستاذ الدكتور توفيق عرفات، إضافة إلى السيدة دينا الداوود والسيدة زينة المجالي عن فئة ذوي الخبرة والاختصاص.

Higher Education and Human Resources Development Council Approves the Composition of the Board of Trustees of the University of Petra
The Higher Education and Human Resources Development Council has approved the composition of the University of Petra’s Board of Trustees for a four-year term, chaired by His Excellency Dr. Ghazi Al-Zaben. The decision was based on the nomination of Al-Petra Education Company, with the aim of bringing academic and professional expertise to the University and supporting its continued development and the advancement of its educational and administrative policies.
The Board includes the President of the University of Petra, Professor Dr. Ali Abu Ghoneimah, Engineer Mohammad Hisham Mohammad Mazen Al-Ansari, and Engineer Khaled Ali.
The academic members appointed to the Board are Professor Dr. Mohammad Bani Salameh, Professor Dr. Ziad Al-Rawadieh, and Professor Dr. Ayman Masaadeh. The industry and commerce sector is represented by Engineer Abdul Rahim Al-Baqa’i and Professor Dr. Tawfiq Arafat, in addition to Ms. Dina Al-Daoud and Ms. Zeina Al-Majali, representing the category of experts and specialists.

رئيس مجلس أمناء جامعة البترا يكرّم العمداء السابقين ويستعرض منجزات كلياتهم
رعى رئيس مجلس أمناء جامعة البترا، معالي الدكتور غازي الزبن، حفل تكريم العمداء السابقين في الجامعة، تقديرًا لجهودهم في قيادة كليات الجامعة وعماداتها خلال الأعوام (2022-2026)، وذلك بعد انتهاء مدة تكليفهم.
أقيم حفل التكريم في نادي الجامعة، بحضور رئيس الجامعة بالوكالة، الأستاذ الدكتور مياس الريماوي. وقدم راعي الحفل الدروع والهدايا التذكارية للمكرمين، مستعرضًا أبرز المنجزات الأكاديمية والبحثية التي تحققت خلال فترة توليهم مسؤولياتهم.
وأكد معالي الدكتور غازي الزبن أن اتخاذ القرار المؤسسي السليم يقوم على الحوار والمشورة، مشددًا على أن الجودة هي المعيار الأساسي لضمان استمرار الجامعة في موقعها المتقدم، وقال: "تكريم العمداء يمثل تقديرًا لعطاء متواصل وتجربة إدارية تركت أثرًا واضحًا في مسيرة الجامعة".
وبيّن الأستاذ الدكتور مياس الريماوي أن العمداء كانوا شركاء حقيقيين في تطوير البرامج الأكاديمية ودعم البحث العلمي، وقال إن "مسيرة الجامعة تمثل ثمرة شراكة متكاملة بين شركة البتراء للتعليم ومجلس الأمناء والكوادر الأكاديمية"، معتبرًا انتهاء مدة التكليف الإداري محطة لاستذكار الإنجازات التي تحققت بروح الفريق الواحد.
واستعرض حفل التكريم إنجازات الكليات والعمادات خلال فترة تولي المكرمين إدارتها؛ إذ شهدت عمادة البحث العلمي والدراسات العليا، خلال فترة تولي الأستاذ الدكتور فيصل أبو الرب، قفزة في أبحاث المفهرسة في قاعدة بيانات "سكوبس" بنسبة 377%، وارتفاع مؤشر "H-Index" إلى 73.
وحصلت كلية تكنولوجيا المعلومات، خلال فترة عمادة الأستاذ الدكتور وائل هادي، على الاعتماد الأمريكي "ABET" لثلاثة برامج، فيما نالت كلية الهندسة، خلال عمادة الأستاذ الدكتور أيمن المومني، جائزة دبي للطاقة بالمستوى الذهبي.
وجددت كلية الآداب والعلوم، خلال عمادة الأستاذ الدكتور محمود السلمان، الاعتمادات الدولية "ASIIN" والبريطانية، واستحدثت برامج للدراسات العليا. كما أسست كلية الصيدلة والعلوم الطبية، في فترة تولي الأستاذ الدكتور رياض عوض، قسم الصيدلة السريرية، محققة طفرة بحثية بنسبة 87%.
فيما جددت كلية العلوم الإدارية والمالية، خلال فترة تولي الدكتورة سهير الجاغوب، الاعتماد البريطاني "ASIC" بأعلى تصنيف دولي.
ونالت كلية الحقوق، خلال عمادة الدكتور علي الدباس، الاعتماد الفرنسي الدولي. ووسعت كلية العمارة والتصميم، في فترة تولي الدكتور عامر الجوخدار، شراكاتها من خلال توقيع 43 مذكرة تفاهم.
وفعّلت كلية الإعلام، خلال عمادة الأستاذ الدكتور علي نجادات، منصة "منبر البترا" الإخبارية، في حين أطلقت عمادة شؤون الطلبة، خلال تولي الأستاذ الدكتور إياد الملاح، مسابقة "Petra Shark Tank"، وأعادت هيكلة العمادة دعمًا للابتكار.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Petra Honors Former Deans and Highlights the Achievements of Their Faculties
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Petra, H.E. Dr. Ghazi Al-Zaben, patronized a ceremony honoring the university’s former deans in recognition of their efforts in leading the university’s faculties and deanships during the period from 2022 to 2026, following the completion of their terms of appointment.
The ceremony was held at the University Club in the presence of the Acting President of the University of Petra, Prof. Dr. Mayas Al-Rimawi. The patron presented commemorative shields and gifts to the honorees, highlighting the most prominent academic and research achievements accomplished during their tenure.
H.E. Dr. Ghazi Al-Zaben emphasized that sound institutional decision-making is based on dialogue and consultation, stressing that quality is the fundamental criterion for ensuring the university’s continued advancement. He said, “Honoring the deans represents recognition of their continuous contributions and administrative experience, which have left a clear impact on the university’s journey.”
Prof. Dr. Mayas Al-Rimawi stated that the deans had been true partners in developing academic programs and supporting scientific research. He said, “The university’s journey is the outcome of an integrated partnership among Al-Petra Education Company, the Board of Trustees, and the academic staff,” considering the end of an administrative term an opportunity to reflect on the achievements accomplished through a spirit of teamwork.
The ceremony highlighted the achievements of the faculties and deanships during the honorees’ tenure. During the tenure of Prof. Dr. Faisal Abu Al-Rub, the Deanship of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies witnessed a 377% increase in research publications indexed in Scopus, while the university’s H-Index rose to 73.
During the tenure of Prof. Dr. Wael Hadi, the Faculty of Information Technology obtained ABET accreditation for three programs. Meanwhile, during the tenure of Prof. Dr. Ayman Al-Momani, the Faculty of Engineering received the Dubai Energy Award – Gold Level.
During the tenure of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Al-Salman, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences renewed its international ASIIN and British accreditations and introduced new graduate programs. The Faculty of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences, during the tenure of Prof. Dr. Riyad Awad, established the Department of Clinical Pharmacy, achieving an 87% increase in research output.
Meanwhile, during the tenure of Dr. Suhair Al-Jaghoub, the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences renewed its British ASIC accreditation with the highest international classification.
During the tenure of Dr. Ali Al-Dabbas, the Faculty of Law obtained international French accreditation. The Faculty of Architecture and Design, during the tenure of Dr. Amer Al-Jokhadar, expanded its partnerships by signing 43 memoranda of understanding.
The Faculty of Media, during the tenure of Prof. Dr. Ali Najadat, activated the “Petra Platform” news platform. Meanwhile, during the tenure of Prof. Dr. Iyad Al-Mallah, the Deanship of Student Affairs launched the “Petra Shark Tank” competition and restructured the deanship to support innovation.

جدد قسم إدارة الأعمال بجامعة البترا شهادة الاعتماد الأردني لبرنامجي البكالوريوس والماجستير لمدة ثلاث سنوات. وأقر مجلس هيئة اعتماد مؤسسات التعليم العالي وضمان جودتها، برئاسة الدكتور ظافر الصرايرة، منح شهادتي الاعتماد للدورة الجديدة للبرنامجين الأكاديميين.
ويتيح تجديد الاعتماد لطلبة القسم دراسة مساقات متكاملة تتدرج من أساسيات الإدارة الحديثة والموارد البشرية في مرحلة البكالوريوس، وصولًا إلى التخطيط الاستراتيجي والقيادة المؤسسية في مرحلة الماجستير. وتعمل كلية العلوم الإدارية والمالية على رفد قطاع الأعمال بكفاءات قادرة على إدارة المشاريع، واتخاذ القرارات، وحل المشكلات المؤسسية في بيئة الأعمال المعاصرة.
University of Petra’s Department of Business Administration Renews Jordanian Accreditation for Bachelor’s and Master’s Programs
The Department of Business Administration at the University of Petra has renewed the Jordanian accreditation for its bachelor’s and master’s degree programs for a period of three years. The Council of the Higher Education Institutions Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission, chaired by Dr. Dhafer Al-Sarayrah, approved the granting of accreditation certificates for the new cycle of the two academic programs.
The renewed accreditation enables students in the department to study integrated courses ranging from the fundamentals of modern management and human resources at the bachelor’s level to strategic planning and institutional leadership at the master’s level. The Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences seeks to provide the business sector with qualified professionals capable of managing projects, making informed decisions, and addressing organizational challenges in the contemporary business environment.

كلية العمارة والتصميم بجامعة البترا تحافظ على شهادة ضمان الجودة الأردنية
حافظت كلية العمارة والتصميم بجامعة البترا على شهادة ضمان الجودة الأردنية للسنة الأخيرة. وأقر مجلس هيئة اعتماد مؤسسات التعليم العالي وضمان جودتها، برئاسة الدكتور ظافر الصرايرة، استمرار منح الشهادة للكلية بعد مراجعة تقارير الأداء.
ويؤكد القرار استيفاء الكلية لمعايير الجودة الأكاديمية والتعليمية المعتمدة محليًا. وتعمل الكلية على تحديث خططها وبرامجها ومختبراتها، بهدف إعداد كفاءات هندسية وتصميمية مؤهلة تلبي متطلبات سوق العمل واحتياجاته المتغيرة.

University of Petra’s Faculty of Architecture and Design Maintains Jordanian Quality Assurance Certificate
The Faculty of Architecture and Design at the University of Petra has maintained its Jordanian Quality Assurance Certificate for the final year of its current certification period. The Council of the Higher Education Institutions Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission, chaired by Dr. Dhafer Al-Sarayrah, approved the continuation of the certificate for the faculty following a review of its performance reports.
The decision confirms that the faculty meets the locally accredited academic and educational quality standards. The faculty continues to update its curricula, programs, and laboratories with the aim of preparing qualified engineering and design professionals who meet the requirements and evolving needs of the labor market.

رئيس جامعة البترا بالوكالة يكرّم طالب الدراسات العليا العيسوي لتصدّره معدلات استعارة الكتب
كرّم رئيس جامعة البترا بالوكالة الدكتور مياس الريماوي، طالب الدراسات العليا أحمد نضال العيسوي، لتحقيقه أعلى معدل لاستعارة الكتب على مستوى الجامعة. وتصدّر العيسوي إحصاءات الاستعارة، متفوقًا على جميع فئات المجتمع الجامعي من طلبة البكالوريوس والدراسات العليا، وأعضاء الهيئتين الأكاديمية والإدارية.
ويشغل العيسوي رئاسة نادي الدراسات العليا والبحث العلمي، ونادي الثقافة والمناظرات، ولجنة أصدقاء المكتبة، إضافة إلى عضويته في مكتب القيادات الواعدة. ووظّف الباحث هذه المواقع لدعم الأنشطة الثقافية، وتشجيع الطلبة على الاستفادة من مصادر المعرفة المتاحة في مكتبة الجامعة.
وأشاد الريماوي بالنموذج الذي يقدمه الطالب، مبينًا أهمية البحث العلمي في ترسيخ ثقافة المعرفة وبناء الشخصية الأكاديمية. وأوضح العيسوي أن التكريم يمثل تقديرًا لقيمة القراءة، مؤكدًا ضرورة تحويل المعرفة المكتسبة إلى مبادرات عملية تخدم البيئة الجامعية.

Acting President of the University of Petra Honors Graduate Student Al-Eisawi for Leading the University’s Book Borrowing Statistics
Acting President of the University of Petra, Dr. Mayas Al-Rimawi, honored graduate student Ahmad Nidal Al-Eisawi for achieving the highest book borrowing rate at the University. Al-Eisawi topped the University’s borrowing statistics, outperforming all categories of the university community, including undergraduate and graduate students, as well as academic and administrative staff.
Al-Eisawi serves as President of the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Club, the Culture and Debates Club, and the Friends of the Library Committee, in addition to his membership in the Promising Leaders Office. He has utilized these roles to support cultural activities and encourage students to benefit from the knowledge resources available at the University Library.
Al-Rimawi praised the exemplary model presented by the student, highlighting the importance of scientific research in fostering a culture of knowledge and building academic character. Al-Eisawi stated that the recognition represents an appreciation of the value of reading, emphasizing the importance of transforming acquired knowledge into practical initiatives that contribute to the university community.

طلبة جامعة البترا يحصدون المركز الثاني في هاكاثون شمال عمّان للريادة عن ابتكار «حارس النخيل»
حصد طلبة من جامعة البترا المركز الثاني في «هاكاثون شمال عمّان للريادة 2026»، عن ابتكارهم «حارس النخيل» (PalmGuard). ونظمت مبادرة «إرادة» المنافسات بالتعاون مع مركز الإبداع والابتكار وريادة الأعمال في جامعة عمّان العربية، بهدف اختيار أفضل المشاريع التقنية وتطويرها.
ونال فريق المبرمجين «في كودرز» (VCoders)، المكوّن من الطلبة زيد أبو الشعر، وعبد الرحمن الهيموني، وعبد الرحمن الكردي، بإشراف الدكتور عبد الكريم البنا، الجائزة عن تطوير نظام ذكي للكشف المبكر عن آفة «سوسة النخيل الحمراء». ويوظف الابتكار تقنيات الذكاء الاصطناعي والمستشعرات لمراقبة الأشجار ورصد الإصابات في مراحلها المبكرة، بما يسهم في الحد من الخسائر الزراعية.
واختارت لجان التحكيم 30 مشاركًا من أصل 169 متقدمًا لخوض مراحل التدريب وتطوير المشاريع، قبل الوصول إلى العرض النهائي. ويضاف هذا الفوز إلى السجل المتميز لفريق «في كودرز» ومشروع «حارس النخيل»، الذي سبق أن تُوّج في مسابقات محلية ودولية، بوصفه حلًا تقنيًا تطبيقيًا يسهم في معالجة تحديات زراعية واقعية.

University of Petra Students Win Second Place in the North Amman Entrepreneurship Hackathon with “PalmGuard”
Students from the University of Petra won second place in the North Amman Entrepreneurship Hackathon 2026 for their innovative project, “PalmGuard.” The competition was organized by the Erada Initiative in cooperation with the Innovation, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship Center at Amman Arab University, with the aim of selecting and developing the best technology projects.
The VCoders programming team, comprising students Zaid Abu Al-Shaer, Abdulrahman Al-Haimouni, and Abdulrahman Al-Kurdi, under the supervision of Dr. Abdul Karim Al-Banna, received the award for developing a smart system for the early detection of the Red Palm Weevil. The innovation uses artificial intelligence and sensor technologies to monitor palm trees and detect infestations at an early stage, helping to reduce agricultural losses.
The judging panels selected 30 participants from 169 applicants to advance through the training and project-development stages before reaching the final presentation. This achievement adds to the distinguished record of the VCoders team and the PalmGuard project, which has previously won awards in local and international competitions, demonstrating its potential as a practical technological solution to real-world agricultural challenges.

قسم العلوم التربوية بجامعة البترا يستضيف خبيرة لتدريب طالباته على توظيف "العرائس القفازية"
استضاف قسم العلوم التربوية في جامعة البترا القاصة والخبيرة التربوية ضحى الخصاونة، لتدريب طالبات مساق "الموسيقى والدراما في التعليم" على آليات توظيف "العرائس القفازية" في تنمية مهارات القراءة والاستماع لدى الأطفال. وناقش اللقاء، الذي أشرفت عليه الدكتورة نيللي البنا، سبل ربط المعارف الأكاديمية بالممارسات التربوية التفاعلية الحديثة.
واستعرضت الخصاونة أهمية العرائس بوصفها وسيلة تعليمية تجذب انتباه الأطفال، وتحفز مهارات الفهم والتعبير لديهم. وتضمن اللقاء تدريبًا عمليًا على قراءة القصص بأسلوب درامي، إلى جانب إخضاع الطالبات لتمارين التنفس والصوت؛ بهدف تحسين مهارات الإلقاء وتنويع النبرات بما يتناسب مع شخصيات القصة وأحداثها.
وطبقت الطالبات أساليب دمج القصة والعرائس لخلق بيئة تعليمية محفزة تجمع بين التعلم والدراما. وتهدف هذه التطبيقات الميدانية إلى إعداد معلمات قادرات على ابتكار أدوات تفاعلية تتيح للأطفال فرصًا أوسع للمشاركة، وتسهم في تنمية قدراتهم اللغوية.
University of Petra’s Department of Educational Sciences Hosts Expert to Train Students in Using Glove Puppets
The Department of Educational Sciences at the University of Petra hosted children’s author and educational expert Doha Al-Khasawneh to train students enrolled in the "Music and Drama in Education" course on using glove puppets to develop children’s reading and listening skills. The session, supervised by Dr. Nelly Al-Banna, explored ways of linking academic knowledge with modern, interactive educational practices.
Al-Khasawneh highlighted the importance of puppets as an educational tool that captures children’s attention and enhances their comprehension and expressive skills. The session included practical training in dramatic storytelling, as well as breathing and voice exercises designed to improve students’ delivery skills and help them vary their tones in ways that correspond with the characters and events of a story.
The students applied techniques that integrated storytelling and puppetry to create an engaging learning environment combining education and drama. These practical applications aim to prepare future teachers to develop interactive tools that provide children with greater opportunities for participation and contribute to enhancing their language skills.
